Graziano's Latest: Sherrill, Arroyo, Rhodes, Zaun

Dan Graziano of the Newark Star-Ledger has a new Trade Winds column.

Graziano notes how incredible the Erik Bedard trade could look for Baltimore if they spin George Sherrill for prospects. He names the Cardinals, Rays, Marlins, and Red Sox as suitors. The Mets fear Sherrill's price tag, while the Yankees don't expect a deal within the division.
The Yankees haven't spoken to the Reds about Bronson Arroyo (although based on previous reports, they have scouted him). The Yanks aren't likely to sign Barry Bonds, and aren't terribly thrilled with the catching market.
Fernando Martinez's possible injury could increase the Mets' urgency to find a left fielder. For some reason, Adam Dunn is not in the mix. The Mets are in on relievers Brian Tallet, Jack Taschner, and Arthur Rhodes.
The division rival Marlins are after Rhodes, as well as Gregg Zaun.
Graziano says no one denied his rumor that the Blue Jays were quietly discussing Roy Halladay with other teams. The offseason might be a better time to shop him, though.

i'd say the major reason the mets probably don't want dunn is he's another lefty hitter, suspect defense, and a possibility that his hrs decrease at shea. add to that the persistent rumours about passion for the game which would not go over well here.

personally i'll take dunn in a heartbeat.

Who the hell does Graziano think he is that his made up rumours, complete misinterpretations of week-old articles, need to be shot down by team officials? They don't deny it because they just sit back and chuckle when the verbal diarrhea emanates from your mouth dude.

And can somebody explain to me why the Mets would be willing to part with their limited prospects for another situational lefty in the pen? They already have 3 lefties in the pen, I know Feliciano has stunk it up, but unless they can move him yo LAA for Juan Rivera or seomthing I don't see why the would be looking for a 3rd lefty. Plus they have Willie Collazo in the minors who can be a loogy right now.

I myself am extremely perplexed here...

How does an injury to Fernando Martinez increase the urgency for the Mets to find a LF?

Last I checked, Martinez wasn't on the Mets big league roster, nor has he been all season.

If in fact the Mets were hoping that Martinez was going to be the big boost that put them over the hump this year then they might want to consider a change in leadership.

Of course the more logical explanation here is Graziano is a hack.
