« Angels Balk At Price For Holliday |

| Braves To Keep Teixeira? »

SI.com's Jon Heyman just posted a new column.
- The Brewers and White Sox inquired on A's closer Huston Street. However, A's GM Billy Beane said "there is nothing going on" in regards to Street. The Sox were linked to both Street and Jon Rauch today, so Kenny Williams is clearly monitoring the relief market.
- Heyman says the Rays have not discussed Street with the A's, and the Dodgers "aren't believed to be heavily involved."
- Heyman is on board with the recent rumors about Ray Durham and Jack Taschner possibly heading to Milwaukee.
- Heyman also confirms Ken Rosenthal's report of the Phillies' interest in Matt Holliday. He agrees that these talks have cooled, but notes a good relationship between GMs Dan O'Dowd and Pat Gillick. Gillick and O'Dowd have matched up for three deals, two occuring while Gillick worked for the Mariners.
- The Dodgers continue to consider shortstop a priority. Heyman wonders if Cristian Guzman would be a fit, especially if extension talks sour. Jack Wilson and David Eckstein are other possibilities.
Ummmm...
Other than Aaron Poreda, Gordan Beckham, and Jose Martinez who do the white sox have to offer? And Beckham can't even be traded.

Maybe we should let actual scouts identify potential targets of an organization rather than arm-chair wielding internet fans.
I dunno, something just tells me they would know a little bit more about what's going on.
Maybe I'm wrong...

Well Lets see
Clayton Richards (USA TEAM & FUTURES ALL STAR TEAM) Chris Getz (FUTURES ALL STAR TEAM) Lance Broadway,Jack Egbert, Josh Fields,Danny Richar, & Jerry Owens all those guys are better prospects then Jose Martinez

I wouldn't call Owens, Richar, or Josh Fields prospects anymore. But if Darren Ford by himself almost netted Street, I think the Sox could get it done.
How about the Sox go after Duke instead, now that Contreras as been disabled. Would Fields, Martinez, and Richards get it done to get Duke and Street?

Fields and some other players could net one of Street or Duke, but not both. The White Sox have only 2 tradeable players in the minors, Josh Fields and Aaron Poreda.

come on baller!
Beane, who is good friends with Williams, would laugh Kenny out the door. That would hardly be enough for Street, but due to his recent performence, Beane might take it. Now for those same players you want the majors ERA leader??? Come on make ChiSox fans look at least some what inteligent. If Williams wanted Street and Duke, his system would be completely decimated. I think that deal would look like this:
To the A's:
Aaron Poreda
Jose Martinez
Josh Fields
Lance Broadway
Kyle McCulloch
To the ChiSox:
Justin Duchsherer
Houston Street
That's a very nice deal for the Sox too! Because Broadway and McCulloch are mid rotation guys at best. I really don't see the A's moving The Duke at all. Street, maybe, probably in the off-season. Duke probably not, I wouldn't be suprised if Beane netted all those players above for Duke alone.

Duke is a very underrated pitcher, and the price for him will most definintly be smaller than Harden's or Haren's. I think the price would be between Blanton's and Harden's.
Posted by: ballerwhiteboy | July 20, 2008 at 08:56 PM
And why would the A's not deal Duke? He's turning 31 and will be very expensive during arbitration.

Poreda is off limits. Replace Poreda with Juan Silverio.

baller, you are making your self look like a complete idiot. Duke is the majors ERA leader! By a long shot! Have you forgoten that Beane is an expert at getting more then what his players are worth? Consider that. Beane would get more than Duke would normaly be worth, so count on all the sox top prospects being gone. Including Poreda.
And as for your other point, the A's and duke are having preliminary contract extension talks, so I bet he stays with the A's for at least this season. Seriously baller, consider what you say before you actually say it.
