Stronach Stables’ Giant Gizmo, winner of his last three starts, will be sidelined for the remainder of the year with a non-displaced condylar fracture in his right front leg, trainer Bobby Frankel said July 22.

“The vets said it should heal very well, maybe in four to six months, and, hopefully, he’ll be back racing,” Frankel said.

Frankel has been extremely high on the son of Giant’s Causeway, whom he felt would have taken a lot of beating in the Whitney Handicap (gr. I) July 26 at Saratoga. After winning an allowance optional claimer at Santa Anita Park, Giant Gizmo scored back-to-back victories in the Alysheba Stakes (gr. III) at Churchill Downs and the Lone Star Handicap (gr. III).

Frankel still will be active this weekend, sending out Stronach’s Ginger Punch in the Go For Wand Stakes (gr. I) and Juddmonte Stable’s First Defence in the Alfred G. Vanderbilt (gr. II).
