Grade II winner and track-record holder Keyed Entry has been retired from racing and will stand the 2009 breeding season at Bridlewood Farm near Ocala, Fla.

By Honour and Glory, Keyed Entry was a graded stakes-winning sprinter at 3 and 4. He began his career by winning his lone start at 2, and then won his first two races at 3, including  the Hutcheson Stakes (gr. II) over First Samurai at Gulfstream Park.

In that race, Keyed Entry carved out fractions of :22.19, :44.10 and 1:07.61 before establishing a track record for 7 1/2 furlongs in 1:27.12, which still stands. He earned a 110 Beyer Speed Figure.

That same year, Keyed Entry was beaten a neck in the Gotham Stakes (gr. III) while second and ran third in the Wood Memorial Stakes (gr.  I).

As a 4-year-old, Keyed Entry captured the Deputy Minister Handicap (gr. III) at 6 1/2 furlongs at Gulfstream. He retired with four wins from a dozen starts and earnings of $322,852 for Starlight Stables, Donald Lucarelli, and Paul Saylor. He was trained by Todd Pletcher.

“He possessed tremendous speed, brilliance, and class on the racetrack, and is a top physical specimen,” said Bridlewood general manager George Isaacs. “With our ongoing success with Put It Back, we feel breeders will see the similarities between their racing careers and genetic potential.”

Bred in Kentucky by Oakbrook Farm, Keyed Entry is out of the graded stakes-placed Cryptoclearance mare Ava Knowsthecode and is a half-brother to stakes winner Alex’s Allure.

A fee will be announced later.
