New Version Beta FriendFeed

 

FriendFeed released new beta, as you can see above, the interface looks similar to Twitter. Check out the new version of FriendFeed at http://beta.friendfeed.com.

The most important update of this version should be the real-time update feature. You can see your friend’s update right away at the top of your feed, no need to refresh the page.

FriendFeed supports Direct Message in the new version, you will be able to send message to your friends directly on FriendFeed. And the new Direct Message will support auto-complete function, which can display user names while you are type in the user name box, just like doing the searching on Google.

Google invests $5.75 million to a start-up, Pixazza, which is trying to do the AdSense on images rather than text as Google do.

Pixazza allows publishers to advertise on their images. When the user mouses into the images, Pixazza displays imformation of the products in the price. So that users can easily buy products they like in the picture. Pixazza also has an Experts system to help link products in images to the right shop, Experts earn commission from every deals they helps.

Hebus.com is a wallpaper community offering 184209 hight quality images with 111039 membres. This is a French website, the design is cool, kinda similar to my WordPress theme BlacknWhite. Most of images are unique and special. I am not a wallpaper guy, but I stayed on this website for over an hour, just looking at the pretty images. I found so many creative art work and photographs. If you’re an artist or photographer, you will love Hebus.

The first time I heard of mind map, I really think it’s very powerful and creative. I tried to use mind map for a while, until I started to use computer for most of my work. You know, it’s not convinient to draw mind map on computer. And later, I found some softwares designed for mind mapping, but they are all very expensive. Leo Babauta is the blogger of Zen Habbits, and the author of The Power of Less. The title of this post is The Essential Guide to Growing Your Blog on Minimal Time, very catchy to blogger, right? I’d like to mark down some points for myself to make sure if I learn something from this post.

  1. Set limit of time for daily blogging, one to two hours would be the best. So that you can focus on the most essential tasks.
  2. Write outstanding articles. You know, the 3 most important thing of a blog: content, content, content.
  3. Linking, and link-bait: link to other blogs and write some linkbait posts, like “Top 50 Producitivity blogs”
  4. Write guest posts on blogs bigger than yours.
  5. Commenting.
  6. Email and networking.

There are two parts of Minimize Non-essentials and Focus left, I am not gonna summarize them, because these 6 points above are the essential part of the post, and worth to be remembered.
