The Valentino Petale Tote is yet another patent masterpiece featuring one of this season's biggest trends: a luscious leather rose.

This Italian leather tote is a good size -- 14"H x 14"W x 4"D. Beware, though, that means it's a lot of red and a very large flower. This purse is definitely only for the truly bold. This much red and a flower that big could easily go awry with the wrong outfit -- if you're unsure of what to pair it with, play it safe and purchase the bag in black or taupe.

We'd love to see this bag with white, black, or gray, but beware the blues, as you might start to look a little aggressively patriotic. It is a bag for the opera, a gala, brunch, or maybe a day at the museum, and will turn heads wherever it goes. Not for the shy wallflowers among us!

The BeoVision 4 From Bang & Olufsen: Rapture on the "Small" Screen for $112,000

The New American Heritage dictionary defines the adjective "superlative" as: "Of the highest order, quality, or degree; superior to all others; 2. Excessive or exaggerated." The third entry should read "The BeoVision 4." The television from Bang & Olufsen presents these credentials: it spans 103 inches; the screen alone weighs 580 pounds, the floor-standing base adds another 600; when the BeoVision 4 isn't being viewed the screen lowers itself to the floor via dual gas shocks and actuators, hiding the center speaker; sixteen years of research have gone into it; oh, and it costs $112,000.

Concorde Hotels & Resorts Allows Guests to Vacation with Renoir

This fall the Gallerie Nationales du Grand Palais in Paris will host an exhibit of Renoir's 20th century works. Touted as the first monographic study of Renoir since 1985, it will focus on the paintings from his last decades after he bid adieu to formal impressionism. Sure to be a magnificent draw, you can spare yourself some time in line if you lodge at any of Paris' six Concorde Hotels & Resorts.

The company's "Renoir in the 20th Century package" will provide you and a guest priority access to spend time with Paul Durand-Ruel and the Woman at the Well. In addition to two tickets to the exhibition, you'll enjoy a buffet breakfast for two for every night of your stay at any of six hotels in the city of lights, love, and crepes galettes -- including the Hotel Crillon, Hotel du Louvre, and Hotel Lutetia.

The package is available from September 23, through December 21, 2009, and rates for double accommodation rooms begin at €202 ($282 US) per night, per room. You can book at www.concorde-hotels.com/renoir, and don't forget to say hello to Madame Renoir with Bob while you're there.

Will Nakheel Sell The QE2?

A few months back we saw that plans to turn the Queen Elizabeth 2 cruise ship into a floating hotel in Dubai had been delayed. The owner, developer Nakheel had planned to moor it at the Palm Jumeirah development but now word has come that the ship may be on the move. The AP has an email from Nakheel saying that other ports have expressed interest in hosting the ship. Nakheel had purchased the ship for a reported $100 million and had plans to recreate the original decor and fittings of the ship from when she was launched in 1967 only with a modern day spin that included adding a 500-seat theater and building a massive spa complex. Those plans are are on hold as Nahkeel, which has developments across Dubai, is considering all offers and has applied to anchor the ship in Cape Town, South Africa.

The email said that the company is working "to ensure opportunities to experience QE2 in her current condition are maximized whilst ensuring her important heritage is at all times protected." This seems like more continued spin from Nakheel which has been hard hit by Dubai's real estate slump and tourism decline. The company has shelved a variety of projects including Donald Trump's planned hotel and has received some of the $10 billion in government bailout funds. There are also reports of widespread layoffs. The company has said before it has no plans to sell the ship. There is widespread speculation as to whether the company will be able to pay off $3.5 billion worth of debt coming due this year so it seems that they might be willing to sell the QE2 if they can find a buyer.
