Hall of Fame x New Era – Collegiate 59Fifty Hats

Hall of Fame has released their newest collaboration with New Era and it consists of two 59Fifty Hats, entitled the Collegiate Series. One hat comes in Royal and the other in Black. Both feature the signature Hall of Fame “H” on the front panel along with “2nd Sucks” on the side of the hat and lastly the “Fame” logo on the back of the hat. You can pick up your favorite color now either at Hall of Fame in Los Angeles or via their Online Store.

AKDMKS – Summer 2009 – Dip Dye Denim

This season witnesses a number of denim trend revivals for the ladies- acid and stone washes being two of them. While the previously taboo acid wash is back from the dead, we discovered some interesting dip-dye jeans from AKDMKS, the women’s label from Akademiks. The legs of the jeans fade from various colors such as purple and blue into white through a soft gradient and feature a classic five pocket design. These jeans are great updates for your summer wardrobe, and a little variant from the hit colored skinny jeans that had been popular since last summer. These jeans are now available online at 80s Purple.

WeSC – Fall/Winter 2009 – Kazuki and Madsaki Collaboration

WeAretheSuperlativeConspiracy addresses their audience by delivering them the concept and products for “life after skate”, working out in the industry as an interesting lifestyle/street fashion brand for intellectual slackers. For the brand’s Fall/Winter 09 collection, they seeked out Japanese illustrator Madsaki, and creative director for Adidas Japan, Kazuki Kuraishi, to create two pieces- a knit sweater and a t-shirt. Madsaki’s crewneck knit sweater and t-shirt features a complex symmetrical looking futuristic motif that somewhat resembles the transformers logos, and is distinctive of his graphics playing with lines and form. As for Kazuki’s pieces, little graphic motifs litter over the black tee and sweather in grey and sometimes highlighted in white on the tee. Check out these collaborative pieces which should be available soon.

Clientele New York – Online Store Now Open

This pair of Nike Hyperize is inspired by Macpherson Stadium in Hong Kong, which has been hosting first division basketball games indoors since 1953. The bulk of the upper is in black and white, inspired by the look of the stadium and a nearby building. The side panel also features flywires in red, green, yellow, blue, and orange, which represents the colors of the seats and handrails inside Macpherson stadium. The Nike Hyperize AP City Pack - Hong Kong Macpherson Stadium is an Asia exclusive.

Notes I made reading Text 100’s Global Blogger Survey

Jordan Stone was good enough to send me a link to the materials from Text 100’s Global Blogger Survey, as I went through it I made notes of the stuff I found of most interest. That isn’t to say that the whole report isn’t of interest, just that this is what I do day-in, day-out so much of it was nice that it affirmed what I knew but wasn’t ‘new, new’ concepts for me.

Social media releases:

Asia leads the way in terms of adoption with US bloggers lagging well behind
Bloggers generally will use imagery linked to a social media release but are not that interested in video or audio. Not terribly surprised by the AV aspect of things. Getting video to work across different blogging platforms is tricky and then there is the attention required to watch video in comparison to scanning a document - especially when you are fitting blogging around an already full life. I’ve said for a long time that pictures and infographics have been undervalued for a long time.

Sources of information:

Given that the New York Times Online is the most linked to site in the English language blogosphere I was surprised to see how far down in terms of importance that mainstream media came as a source of information for bloggers
This was especially surprising given the politics was an area that few if any of the bloggers surveyed wrote about according to data elsewhere in the presentation, so there was likely to be less ‘trust’ issues with the media, particularly amongst APAC respondents

Renowned camera manufacturer, Leica, has recently unveiled an all-white special edition of the first digital M series, the M8. This white rangefinger digital camera with a classically vintage camera design is produced in a limited run of 275 and comes with a silver 28mm Elmarit-M ASPH lens. The pack also includes a white strap and E39 UV/IR filter in the specially created silver box package. The M8 has a specially designed ten megapixel CCD sensor and a completely digital imaging system. This classic cam is available at Dale Photo & Digital for a rather steep $8500.
