M.I.A. comes back with her second album KALA, after her 2005 album Arular. She has gained mainstream sucess by working with some of the biggest in the industy and with her hit song "Paper Planes". The various use of political lyrics, strong artwork and many differnt music generes make this album phenomenal and every track refelective and bold. The name for her album reflects her and her fathers past mixing up poverty, revolution, war, as well as popular and indie culture. "Amazon" and "Fire" are a mix of strident and elusive imagery, social commentary and storytelling. While "Come Around" just gets stuck in your head with its great production and help from Timberland. Although her political and global views are very strong her use of slang and beats
make this album so amazing so if you havn't heard it.. get on it!

Released On November 24/2008 This album was highly anticipated by many after his third album "Graduation" was released in 2007. Unlike his other albums which are mostly rapping, this one has stripped down his previouse classic West dance tunes and seems to display the struggle and loss expressed in this highly emotionall concept. Tracks like "Love Lockdown" and "Heartless" shows the painfull honesty of what West was influenced by, his mother Donda passing away as well as his split from fiance Alexis Phifer . The album is interlaced with electric beats (80s pop) and the Roland TR-808 drum machine that he felt is an important instrument that can be used to evoke emotion. Although this album is not your typical hip hop beat, it does however have excellent production and use of tribal drums and the occasional exaggerated vocal effect, produced by Auto-Tune are meant to represent the effect of being heartbroken, and thats the feeling that the album evokes. Although West has an astronomical level of ego, on this album it is all torn away and he really bares the raw emotions of his stuggle. So if you love kanye like so many of us check it out it is very different but give it time it will grow on you!
