Freaking unbelievable. Absolutely speechless. Who would have thought we had logical thinking, mature individuals in charge of our judiciary system. So finally after 7 years of court battle, Delhi High Court legalised gay sex among consenting adult.

“We declare that Section 377 of IPC in so far as it criminalises consensual sexual acts of adults in private is violative of Articles 14, 21 and 15 of the Constitution,” a bench comprising Chief Justice A P Shah and Justice S Murlidhar said. [Link : Rediff.com]

However IPC 377 will still hold for cases involving children and non-consensual sex. All good me thinks though it would naive of us to think that our esteemed self-appointed moral brigade will not try to make most of this opportunity. Thankfully though this time round, the law is on the right side. So these douchebags can very well shove their fingers up their stinky arse.

I am not saying in any sense that what happened what’s happening in Sydney Melbourne can be excused & thereby forgotten but the whole object behind this post is to ask (few) intellectual people to stop forming judgment on this “country” on the basis of what is written in the papers and spoken by other intellectual individuals like them and to stop generalizing the entire “Australian community” as being racist. This was my standpoint in 2005 and in 2009, I continue to believe the same. Australia was home to me for 8 years,crucial growing up years to say the least, from the age of 16 to 23. A country of many firsts for me - first job, first car, reality checks, happy hour nights @ Uni bar, bunking work for a sun tan, crazy Halloween parties, generous tips during holiday season (Worked as a waitress in an Indian Curry House), toilet cleaning (part of my job profile @ Burger King), introduction to R&B, weekend movie marathons, my closest friends & best flat mates ever, two white Australian lads, Dave & Elliot – so as is obvious by now, this is an emotional topic for me. And yes, touchy too. O Boy, it pisses me no ends, reading headlines tagging Australia, one of the safest countries in today’s times, as racist.

To explain it in simple words – I consider myself as much an Ozzie as an Indian. Australia(ns?) and my experiences there have a lot to do with what I am today, not by monetary value or stature, but as a human being. Some may argue that I was plain lucky, but let me assure you that there are many many more falling within the same “lucky” bracket then those falling outside it.

I am obviously not implying that they sit on their arses and do jack shit – The Australian government & authorities are very capable and follow the rules by the book – and those responsible will be punished appropriately (sorry but yes, I have more faith in their judicial system than in ours… do you blame me?).

So for now let’s just stop magnifying every small incident to the size of a mammoth racial calamity. And then haven’t you heard?- people who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.

Sorry to burst your bubble dude but I think your effort ain’t getting nowhere.

What’s worse – when your lover leaves you because they have fallen out of love OR when they walk away because they can no longer handle the external pressure (example; family, society, friends, etc)?

For the longest time I believed that nothing could be worse than the first scenario. I mean think about it; you make someone fall in love with you and then be capable enough to make them fall out of love with you. Yes agreed it is a reality of many broken relationships but honestly I never thought this would ever happen with me. Seriously, who could fall out of love with ME? I mean it is ME they are in love with.

Yup yup, this inflated was my ego. Then BANG! And by Gawd what a reality check it was.

But then I have firsthand experience in the second scenario as well. And no, I am not referring to countless Bollywood flicks on the same topic, I have watched over the years. However I have noticed that people are somewhat sympathetic towards breakers (the ones who initiate the breakup) of this type-situation. Often you hear them saying – He/she madly loved her/him but sacrificed it for family ….I at times find it amusing though. I mean, is it really that easy to make heroes out of ordinary folks?

On comparing the two I see this - For me both situations had been equally miserable. The pain was intense and life felt like an absolute dump. After all a break up is a break up is a break up. And they are never easy.

But do I blame the other…..Nope. How come? Because I am a saint who firmly believes that there are plenty of other fishes in the sea. * wink * * wink *

Tomorrow off to Paris, Disney Land with the kids. Not mine. My brother’s. Good to have things cleared out no? Anyway will be back to blogging very soon. Till then be naughty.

This 27 year old was a bitch no doubt. But one can’t completely fault her for her mannerism; a peek in her background/upbringing and you will realize this was the way she was programmed to function. On the other hand, and as my ex would say - we always have a choice - Jade could have walked away from everything that was wrong in her life. But instead she grabbed on the opportunity to cash in on her misery. And needless to say a very wise choice indeed.

Honestly I can’t seem to make up my mind; was it right or wrong of her to treat (her) personal tragedy (cervical cancer) as a media opportunity (which said to have fetched her over 1 million pounds)?

Personally I wouldn’t. As mentioned in the previous post…I believe intimate matters are meant to be kept behind closed doors. But then again the definition of intimacy takes a different turn when you are leaving behind 2 young kids and an addict mother to fend for themselves.

And even though many of the media critics did question her intentions; considering the fact that she had already filled up her bank vault from her earlier autobiographies, perfumes lines, columns, reality TV shows, etc and accused her of being a limelight junkie.

And let’s say, even if she was obsessed with the spot light, I still see no wrong in her publicizing her dying days. I mean at the end of the day, it was HER life she was selling and accept it or not, many were willing to pay for a piece of it.

As an end note, I am slightly wandering off the point here.

With death I guess alls forgiven though I wonder – is it because we genuinely feel sympathetic towards the dying/dead or rather we act in such fashion only because we are over protective of our own karma.

Honestly speaking, I don’t really like Ms. PerfectBouncyFigure. Never did, as an actress and now, as a human being. Okay, so maybe I am being a little too judgmental here but celebrities speaking on topics they know jack shit about or hogging the limelight at every single opportunity available, even when it’s in the bad taste – to put it in plain words – pisses the shits out of me.

Yes, I do realize that the publicity lust comes somewhat with their job profile. But come on, there has to be a limit to such nonsensical hunger.

Ms. Shetty hit the glorydom, after a sagging Bollywood career, all thanks to a silly cat fight. Yup! Think what you may, but to me the entire Big Brother fiasco was not racism but a girly fight blown out of proportion. Anyway, as they say “Jab Upperwallah meharbaan to gadha pehalwaan” and our woman cashed in big time on another woman’s (Jade Goody) silliness – Commercial offers, Brand endorsements, Broadway Musicals, Fitness Videos, etc . Except that her acting skills (or the lack of it) continues to bore us to death.

All good, me thinks. With excellent PR backing, the Shilpa Shetty became from a nobody to a household name in the European market and salvaged some respect among her contemporaries back home.

But what didn’t gel well with my ethical senses is that once the news of Jade Goody’s cervical cancer was out – Shetty’s PR gang took it up as another muft ki (free) publicity opportunity. And in no time, television interviews and news prints were flashing Ex-Big Brother winner’s sentiments on the dying woman.

To a certain extent I can even tolerate Celebs using NGOs & social causes to further enhance their image even if they personally give a flying crap about what they are preaching. As long it helps the cause, it’s all good. On the other hand, basking in the limelight over someone’s death is just degrading.

Some matters require sensitivity….the need to remain behind closed doors. If the Bounce girl did feel emotionally strangulated over Goody’s illness then the sentiments should have been shared just between them… As opposed to putting up a show and handing out open invitations to the world audience. That’s how one should deal with intimate matters….as I see it.

Though I wonder what will be more objectionable for our protectors of Bharitiya maryada and sanskriti; eating beef or the manner in which it’s eaten. Both seem to be corrupting the minds of Indian women, no?

Either which ways me thinks Padma Lakshmi rocks. Salman Rushdie what a bloody wanker.
