At the CES 2009, Powermat introduced it’s innovative wireless power system, which goes by the same name as the company. The mat has a single power cord to connect to an outlet, and by merely placing gadgets on the mat, you can charge them — regardless of their voltage. Check out this video by Wired.com for a demo:

Pandora Launches Energizer Music Forum

I’m a big fan of Pandora, a free web service that creates streaming, personalized radio stations based on songs or artists you like. Maybe you can listen to it on your new ChicBuds that you can win on our website???? If you haven’t used the service before, basically you type in a song or artist, and it will populate an ongoing playlist with songs that have similar musical qualities. If you don’t like a song, tell the station and they’ll adjust your tunes accordingly.

Like previous e-book readers, the Amazon Kindle relies on an easy-to-read E Ink display that needs no backlight and draws power only when loading a new page. (It can handle thousands of pages between charges.) The Kindle’s key innovation—the one that blazes the way for digital paper products—is its inclusion of a high-speed EVDO antenna and a deal with Sprint that allow users to download books quickly, from nearly anywhere.

Nokia planning gesture controlled devices?

At a cocktail party Nokia cheif designer, Alastair Curtis, was asked why Nokia’s N-series of multimedia devices have yet to see a multi-touch interface. Curtis replied, “We’ve not launched what we think is right for N-series in a touch product. You’ll see in the coming months, years… what we feel is right.” Curtis then elaborated, “Much as I’m talking to you now with gestures.”

Blackberry Storm

Research In Motion (RIM) Ltd. launched its first-ever touch-screen Blackberry smart phone. The Blackberry Storm, which operates exclusively on Verizon’s 3G network in the U.S., ties in all of BlackBerry’s email, calendaring, messaging and mobile Web capabilities, along with a host of multimedia capabilities like GPS, video, music and more. It also features a 3.2-megapixel camera with zoom, flash and video-recording capabilities.

ASUS 15.6-inch touchscreen Eee Tops

ASUS will release their 15.6 touch screen ET1602 and ET1603 XP PCs tomorrow. They include a 160GB hard disk, 802.11n WiFi, a pair of 4-watt speakers, and 1.3 megapixel webcam all propped up by a tepid 1.6GHz Atom N270 processor. The ET1603 packs a better ATI HD3450 graphics card and battery for 4.4-kilograms (9.7-pounds). Pricing and the countries are not annaounced yet.

For you game-playing types, the XPS 730x updates the popular XPS 730 line with the new processor, up to 6GB DDR3 memory, updated thermal monitoring system and chassis and either ATI Radeon HD 4850 512MB or NVIDIA GeForce GTX280 1024MB graphics — starting at $2,599.

Dell’s Mini 12 netbook

Dell will release Mini 12. The 12-inch notebook’s price is starting at $549 for 1.33GHz Atom processor, 1GB of memory, 40GB hard drive and standard 3 cell battery. Another configuration starts at $758 and supports 1.6GHz Atom processor, 80GB hard drive and a 6 cell battery. Windows Vista Home Basic is the OS.
