It is really hard to have a beautiful garden when you have dogs around, specially when they are not trained to behave right? So there are a lot of things to consider if you want to have a dog friendly garden for your house.

• 1. Enough space. We, dog lovers, know that dog really loves to run and play. So create a garden with a lot of space to run and play.
• 2. Choose your plants. Get plants that are not harmful to your dog to avoid sickness and injury. Some plants are toxic to dogs, also avoid spikey and thorny plants.
• 3. Driftwoods and borders. These are helpful on preventing your dogs to enter your planted areas.

• 4. Plant by group. Dogs wont harm your plants if they are in a bunch rather than in singles. Study says dogs would just go around a bulked planted plants than to play with them.
• 5. Chemical and Fertilizers. Be sure that all of these are stocked properly so it might not harm your dog.
• 6. Enough Lightning. Make sure to have a good outdoor lighting at night in your garden. So that your wont ruin any of your plants and flowers.
• 7. Train them. Train your dogs to behave and not to dig around or you can give your dog their space to dig in.

Many institutions has been requesting dogs to visit their patients or to be in the home for the aged and kids house. I remember one incident that happened last year, a dog did not leave his master until the paramedics rescue him on the streets. The dog’s master suffered from a heat stroke and was pronounced dead upon arrival in the hospital.

One incident also happened that the dog and the owner were on a motorcycle ride when they had an accident on one highway and the dog stayed on her side until the rescue team was present. Well some dog owners are having second thoughts of caging their dog but you have to also know that the dogs appreciate it when they have their own personal space.

Aside from the fact that caging them does not mean that they will stay there forever right? Just be sure to choose the right industrial supplies that can fit their lifestyle.

Some dogs prefer a light weight materials and huge dogs needs a heavy metal cages, just be sensitive to your dogs needs and look for a more durable cages for them. I am sure they’ll be happy being on it.

Heat Stroke is common to every dog but the flat face dogs are more prone to this dog emergency. Flat face dogs such as bulldogs, boston terriers, frenchies, pekingese, pugs, etc are the first in line to have heat stroke. Some triggers could happen inside your closed car on a very sunny day, being outside on the hottest day, while getting groomed and the hair dryer is too close or too long on drying them, having no source of water or not in a shaded area.

Heat stroke symptoms can be detected with their rapid breathing, noisy and frantic type of breathing. Their tongue and mucus membrane turned very red, vomiting water, excessive saliva that drips on their mouth. Seeing your pug physically can detect the heat stroke is happening and we do not like have an AED type of gadgets for flat face dogs to detect the heat stroke right there and then but you can check on their temperature.

Rectally taken, the normal temperature would be around 100-102 Fahrenheit but if it measure more than that your dog is having a heat stroke. You will notice that your dog weakens, it can have a diarrhea with blood on it, lost their balance and falls into coma before it will die.

Yes, Heat stroke is fatal so you have to be vigilant on you dogs health condition, for one, your dog cannot speak and tell you how they feel, right? So provide them some of your time and attention, know their breed’s health history so you would take enough precautions about the do’s and dont’s on your dog.

So for mild cases of heat stroke and or if you detect it right away, you can make them drink cold water, give them ice cubes, shower them or hose them, if the temp is high dip them on a tub of cold water and it will help on lowering the heat, some also uses cold enema for some heat stroke cases but if you do not know what to do or easily freaked out better bring you dog to the nearest vet.

What I do is I always made sure that during summer my pug and other dogs sleep on a nice soft cold cushion for prevention. I hope it helps.

According to About dot com, the Top 10 Dog Movies are; Lassie Come Home, Old Yeller, Benji, Homeward Bound (1993 Walt Disney Version), Best in Show, Beethoven, Lady and the Tramp, Turner and Hooch, Eight Below and 101 Dalmatians (1961 Original Version).

But few of my favorites are not on the list, they are Marley and Me, 10 Promises to my Dog and Fluke. I am still downloading the movie Beverly Hills Chihuahua and I wish I could do my own dog movie with my fur babies using my digital camcorders at home.
