According to sources close to our heart, the newest integrated AMD chipset for it's AM3 processor - AMD 785G will be launched on 4th August 2009.

This new chipset supports socket-AM2/AM2+/AM3 processors and 5.2GTs 16X16 wide Hyper Transport HT3.0 bus. It can be use for mainboards supporting DDR2 or DDR3.

Most mainboards will pair it up with SB710, which is the downsized variant of the SB 750. As for the graphics, it will have an an integrated ATI RV620(HD 4200)-based Graphics Processor(IGP) that integrates a DirectX 10.1 Shader Model 4.1 graphic core. It supports Windows Vista Aero display architecture and has a maximum DAC frequency of 400 MHz Resolution up to 2560x1600 and support up to a refresh rate up to 85MHz.

The chipset will support multiple display components including D-SUB, DVI-D, HDMI and there is frame buffer on board (32-256MB).

For HD Video, it supports UVD 2 for high quality scaling, multi stream playback (PIP), transcode acceleration and dynamic contrast. The 3rd new difference is that now supports AMD overdrive 3 fusion utility. Most importantly it is on 55nm and you have a lower power, low noise power efficient system. Other features of the AMD 785G includes ATi Hybrid Graphics - Hybrid CF with Radeon HD 3450, PCIe Gen 2 (12 USB, 6 SATA, RAID). It also comes with HDMI (HDCP), DVI, Display port and SurroundView support.

The 3D performance of the integrated graphics is said to outperform the previous generation with a 3DMark06 score of 1500+. This new platform is known as "Pisces".

Google Chrome OS partners announced

Google has officially announced its first partners to support the upcoming Google Chrome OS. Hardware vendors interested in supporting the recently announced Google open source operating system include Acer, ASUS, Freescale, Hewlett-Packard, Lenovo, Qualcomm, Texas Instruments and Toshiba. Adobe has also been listed by Google as a software partner, probably for the Flash and Air platform technologies. According to Google, the first devices running Chrome OS should be available in the second half of 2010.

The operating system will initially be aimed at x86 and ARM based netbooks and uses a Linux kernel running a "new windowing system". In the Google Chrome Blog post, the search engine giant stresses the fact that, like its mobile Android operating system, the Chrome OS will be a free, open source product, available at no cost to users or device manufacturers. Google welcomes developers interested in helping the project and advises them to "stay tuned" as the OS code will be open sourced later this year. The company also notes that there are currently several full time software engineering positions available for Chrome OS development.

We have seen a number of reports across various forums about failures of modules (from Corsair as well as from other memory manufacturers) built with Elpida “Hyper” RAMs. Through lab testing, we have now been able to reproduce similar failures. We are continuing to test to determine the cause of these failures. Note that although a relatively small percentage of “Hyper” ICs appear to be affected, the rate of failure is not acceptable to Corsair or to our customers.
For those who are familiar with SSD, the Kingston M Series drive actually is an OEM of the Intel X-25M SSDSA2MH080G1 drive with a capacity of 80GB. This is a 2.5" SSD Drive and it looks identical to the original Intel drive. The package includes Acronis which allows you to quickly migrate your existing HDD to SSD

Early this year, we reviewed the ASRock X58SupeComputer. It is the top notch mainboard from ASRock which features 4 X PCIe slots supporting CrossFireX and Quad-SLI. Although it has the most flexible solutions, the pricing is generally high for such a well designed board.

To bring down the cost of ownership for Intel X58 systems, ASRock introduced a mid range mainboard based on the Intel X58 chipset. This new board, ASRock X58 Extreme has some similarities to the X58SuperComputer. The most important difference is that this board has 3 full length PCIe slots, thus it cannot support Quad crossfire or Quad SLI.

Instead, it added some interesting new features : TPM. TPM or Trusted Platform Module allows you to secure your working environment with enhanced data protection via high level encryption and decryption.
For DIY users, ASRock added one of our suggestions. That is, switches for Power On/off, Clear Cmos and Reset. You no longer require a screw driver to short the circuit to power on/off, clear cmos or reset the system while you are assembling the system. To help you debug the system, ASRock also added in Dr.Debug, to show you the BIOS POST diagnostics status of your system.

Press Release: Transcend Releases Ultra-Speed 2.5" SATA SSD with DRAM Cache

June 29, 2009
Transcend Information, Inc. (Transcend), a worldwide leader in storage and multimedia products, is proud to announce the release of its latest ultra-speed Solid State Drive, a 2.5" SATA II SSD equipped with 64MB of built-in DRAM cache. This new drive, the SSD25D, offers Transcend's industry-proven SSD durability, power savings and reliability, while at the same time delivers outstanding transfer rates for those who demand the ultimate in data storage performance.
Thanks to its advanced solid-state technology, Transcend's SSD25D far outperforms standard 2.5" hard drives, delivering extraordinary sustained transfer speeds of up to 230MB/s read and 180MB/s write to guarantee blazing fast throughput, regardless of file size or type. With these extremely fast transfers and virtually non-existent (around one millisecond) latency, a computer equipped with a Transcend SSD25D is more responsive, boots-up faster, and launches software applications in a fraction of the time required with a standard hard drive. The increased speed potential gained from using a ultra-speed DRAM cache makes the SSD25D an ideal upgrade for high-end gaming systems and workstations, providing a more enjoyable, lag-free computing experience-especially when used with the upcoming Windows 7 operating system.
Built with reliable NAND flash memory that contains no moving parts, the SSD25D is highly rugged, remains cool and quiet while in operation, and is practically immune to mechanical failure caused by excess vibration, shock or heat. In addition, the SSD25D uses integrated ECC (Error Correction Code) to ensure accurate data transfer, and also features built-in wear leveling technology for consistent long-life operation that gives peace of mind to users who heavily rely on the data stored in their computers.
Transcend's new DRAM cache-equipped SSD25D features an industry-standard 3.0Gb/s SATA II interface and 2.5" form factor to allow easy and straightforward user installation in most notebook and desktop computers, just like a conventional hard drive. Moreover, the SSD25D's low power requirements and cool, silent operation greatly benefit notebook users with increased efficiency and longer battery runtime. Now available in 60GB and 120GB capacities, Transcend's SSD25D Solid State Drive is ideal for system builders, gamers, or anyone who is looking for an easy upgrade to supercharge their notebook or desktop PC with a dose of ultra-speed performance.

Disable the nvvsvc.exe (NVHelper) in the services.msc if you are running Windows Vista. By setting it to manual startup, it will not invoked the RUNDLL32 'unnecessarily' resulting in weird error messages popping up on the screen.

HTC Hero is the world’s first Android-based phone with a
customized user interface
HTC Sense to be integrated across a portfolio of
phones beginning with HTC Hero

LONDON – June 24, 2009 – HTC Corporation, a global designer of mobile phones, today debuted HTC Sense™, an intuitive and seamless experience that will be introduced across a portfolio of phones beginning with the new HTC Hero™. With its distinct design and powerful capabilities fully integrated with HTC Sense, Hero introduces a unique blend of form and function that takes Android to new heights.
HTC Sense is focused on putting people at the centre by making your phone work in a more simple and natural way. This experience revolves around three fundamental principles that were designed by quietly listening and observing how people live and communicate.
"HTC Hero introduces a more natural way for reaching out to the people and accessing your important information, not by following the status quo of todays phones, but by following how you communicate and live your life," said Peter Chou, Chief Executive Officer, HTC Corporation. "HTC Sense is a distinct experience created to make HTC phones more simple for people to use, leaving them saying, it just makes sense."
HTC Hero
HTC Hero continues HTCs leadership in cutting-edge design that focuses on introducing a variety of distinct devices to represent your own individuality. Boasting bevelled edges and an angled bottom, the HTC Hero is contoured to fit comfortably in your hand and against your face while youre on a call. The HTC Hero is built to last beginning with an anti-fingerprint screen coating for improved smudge resistance and a longer lasting, clearer display. The white HTC Hero includes an industry-first, Teflon coating, resulting in an improved, durable white surface that is soft to the touch.
With its 3.2-inch HVGA display, the HTC Hero is optimized for Web, multimedia and other content while maintaining a small size and weight that fits comfortably in your hand. It also boasts a broad variety of hardware features including a GPS, digital compass, gravity-sensor, 3.5mm stereo headset jack, a 5 mega-pixel autofocus camera and expandable MicroSD memory. HTC Hero also includes a dedicated Search button that goes beyond basic search, providing you with a more natural, contextual search experience that enables you to search through Twitter, locate people in your contact list, find emails in your inbox or search in any other area in Hero.
HTC Sense
Built on a culture of innovation and a passion to enhance peoples lives, HTC shapes the mobile experience around the individual. Debuting on the HTC Hero and available on all new HTC devices moving forward, Sense delivers on three basic principles: Make it Mine, Stay Close and Discover the Unexpected.
Make It Mine
Make It Mine, is about feeling your HTC phone was created for and by you. To do this, HTC encourages you to dictate and organize how you want to access the people and content in your life in a way that fits best for you. For some, this means adding glance view widgets that push content like twitter feeds, weather and other content to the surface while others may want quick access to business-focused information like email, calendar and world-times. HTC is also introducing a new profile feature called scenes that enables you to create different customized content profiles around specific functions or times in your life.
Stay Close
Today, staying in touch with the people in your life means managing a variety of communication channels and applications ranging from phone calls, emails, texts, photos, status updates and more. HTC Sense takes a different approach by integrating these communication channels and applications into one single view enabling you to stay closer to your important people. With HTC Sense, friends Facebook status updates and photos along with their Flickr photos are included along side their text messages, emails and call history in a single view.
Discover the Unexpected
Many of the most memorable moments in your life are experienced, not explained. HTC Sense is focused on providing a variety of these simple yet innovative experiences on your HTC phone that will sometimes bring you moments of joy and delight. It can be something as basic as turning the phone over to silence a ring or as simple as improving the smart dialler for making calls quicker. HTC Sense also includes perspectives, a new way for viewing your content such as email, photos, Twitter, music and more in different ways.
Availability
The HTC Hero will be available to people across Europe in July and in Asia later in the summer. A distinct North American version will be available later in 2009.
