So I started wearing contact lens.

During the winter of my sophomore year in college, at the suggestion of mom, I got LASIK done on my eyes. Around that time, my eyesight had stabilized at around -8.50 and -9.50 for some years...

For a while after that, everything was PERFECT. I was happy that I needed no glasses, and I didn't need to put something into my eyes every morning (and spending WAY TOO MUCH time that I should be able to sleep in some more.)

Then, first year of grad school came. The whole studying-8hr-a-day-on-top-of-classes came around. For a while, I used my eyesight more than I could imagine possible. My vision got a bit blurry. And when I came back to check, it was about -0.75. That was still negligible under normal daily life.

Last year, however, when I was spending about 3 extra hours each night after coming back home from work at around 8-9pm to study for CFA Exam Level 1, trying to cram everything in within the 2 months since I made rash decision to register in mid-September. I guess I had been straining my eyesight again, and so I had been feeling a little dizzy and blurry since.

It all came back to last weekend, when I accompanied dad to go pick up his new glasses. Since we were going to the family optometrist who had been checking my eyes since I was still a kid anyway, I decided that I might as well get my eyes checked up that day as well. As it turned out, my left eye's now -2.5 and the right one is about -1.5... Sure, I could still function without glasses on a daily basis, but I guess that in order to make sure I don't overdo it, I should do my eyes a big favor and help them out a little. :)

So, here I am. I picked up my new glasses today. It'll be a while to get used to seeing myself in these again... ^^% (And no, no contacts for me for now. I actually hated the thought of putting things in my eyes. I hated it back then, and I'm pretty sure I'll still hate it now.)

So, what do you think?

The images are very crudely edited, and I didn't do anything except for cutting, pasting, cropping, and texting. So don't expect a very high-quality image here. ;)

But anyhow, I think I made my point. The 2 images above look like 2 completely different person! (and at 2 different ages too. lol) Right? :) The left side of my face definitely looks more mature, with bigger eyes, and slimmer face! So, I guess if that's what I want, I should start turning my left side to the camera more often!!! (and if I want to look younger, I should turn my right towards the camera? lol!)

So, what do you think?

If you decide to give this a try, do let me know the results too! I'd love to see how others would do with this simple image idea! ;)

PS. This image was taken without this purpose in mind. Maybe I'll try again with a completely straight-face photo, under a better lighting! :)

PS2. I found this page here that has the same thing done for a few celebrities. Check them out! :) I guess my case is similar to this particular case of Jane Fonda where the right side is much more childish than the left side of my face. ;)

PS3. Also found someone else doing the similar thing here. If there's any other that you find, please do let me know! :D

Just HEARING stories with bloody words makes me feel weak in the knees. And I cannot even look at the TV when there's bloody scene on (even though I KNOW it's all fake on screen.)

Nevertheless, I have donated blood at the Thai Red Cross 3 (or maybe 4) times already. Tomorrow will be the 4th (or maybe 5th) time. And EVERYTIME, to the amusement of my mom, or whoever would be accompanying me to the Red Cross, I'd be making a face, closing my eyes completely, and turning & leaning as far away from all the needle and the running blood as my neck would possible allow me.

Fortunately for me, I have been able to pretty much avoid looking at it directly for the first few times, and so I have managed to not faint or made a big scene at the red cross. ;)

But of course, there are enough benefits (at least as far as I am concern) of doing this that made me want to do so.

Besides the feeling-charitable-about-helping-others benefits thing, I think it's a good thing for my body as well. At least when I know that I'll be doing some donation, it definitely gives me more incentive to take even better care of myself too. :) And of course, there're some otherunconfirmed benefits of reducing heart disease and all that. But those aren't my major concern anyway.

So yup. Just wish me luck for my blood donation tomorrow. Let's hope that I won't faint... ;) And maaaaaybe I'll be brave enough to take some photos.

(I mean, my tweets won't be complete w/o some photos, right? ;)

PS.
