So now our beloved pets are be taken away from there families, for doing nothing wrong and being punished by death! All because it is or has pit bull mixed in! It is a true shame that our society has lost all compassion for living things - maybe we should enforce a law to put down stupid humans as these!

That’s a sad story. I don’t know the shelter’s side of the story, so I don’t want to cast judgment, but many animal shelters euthanize new animals (and old animals) too quickly.

You’re right. People should think long and hard before they decide to take in a pet. They’re like children - they eat lot, cost a lot to care for, and shouldn’t be thrown out onto the streets when they become inconvenient.

I Had a white american pitt bull terrior in england it grew really quick so we had t give it to a friend in a larger house, my point is some people dont acknowledge how to look afer the animal even when they know the animal its too big and if an animal doesnt have enought space it can go mad like humans can,
but there really nice dog, friendly if brought up right.

The commercial is very beautifully done and I love Sarah Mclauchlan but I know she would be horrified what the Victoria B.C. Spca did to our married daughters beautiful three year old healthy gentle dog that was immediately killed by the manager Penny Stone even though I told them I wanted to take the dog home he was dead within an hour if that. Sarah would be horrified as our family and friends and all others are.

It does matter what they are doing at OSU because the terminal surgeries were just the tip of the iceberg here for cruel practices and mismanagement. I know because my daughter left this program two years ago because of the practices. She is not a member of any group, just a responsible human being. It took a lot of guts to do this, because basically it ruined her chances of ever being accepted at another vet school. She has volunteered at other vet schools and they did not treat animals this way.

Their ads ARE eye-catching.
But yeah, I think the ads would be, if not sexist, exploitative if they used chiseled male bodies instead of female bodies. But I’m more apt than most to be offended at the use of sex appeal to sell oneself or a product. Call me prudish, eh?

I hate PETA, but I like their ads!

(Aust) ABC’s Gruen Transfer showed this ad on a show about meat industry advertising. Gruen’s host, Will Anderson, is a vegetarian.

Would the ad be less sexist if it had shown some chiselled male bodies too?

That’s an interesting article. I don’t know what to to conclude about it. I’m willing to give the ZooToo.com company a break. Note these paragraphs:

Zootoo founder Richard Thompson, a millionaire entrepreneur and former Meow Mix CEO, acknowledges the delays but says he has spent $150,000 of Zootoo’s money to push the project along. He says he has paid for consultants, architects, inspections, zoning and taxes, among other expenses — spending he says Grim would not necessarily see. “We are working slowly,” he says, “but we’re moving ahead.”

The contest was a first for Zootoo, and “maybe we made some mistakes,” Thompson says. “The first time you’re out test driving a car, you make mistakes.” (emphasis mine)

The contractor working with the contest winner and Zootoo says, “I don’t think anybody was trying to do anything deceitful [...] Neither one of them has acted that way to me.”

Basically, it seems like one big mess, full of miscommunication and mishandlings from all sides. These things happen sometimes, and should serve as a lesson to the parties involved and to onlookers. What lesson? I don’t know — maybe something about ensuring the best possible planning before launching such a large project?

Well, I’m no expert on this subject, so I’d feel more comfortable pointing you to a Google search. I do know, though, that caring for a pet primate is about as time- and energy-intensive as caring for a human child. Make sure you are prepared for this before you even consider getting one as a pet.
