Photoshopped Or Gimped Or Paintshopped

We all love Open source and we all love to promote them, the biggest reason is that we love free products that are good and free, however there are certain terms we are always stuck with.

For instance if a photo has been measured up or modified we say that it has been photoshopped, when will we start saying it has been Gimped or Paintshopped?

I have heard people saying this “Oh man, I just photoshopped the image with GIMP”.

The problem is not big, but it is there, we still relate to brands where they matter, now that is what I call branding, paid or free software, relating to something with a term that is a brand is called publicity in the sheer terms.

There are many more similar examples like this where people refer to brands even where they use open source, it definitely shows the power of a brand.

Quality vs Crap Blogging

We all blog to make money, however many us forgo the right to call ourselves as bloggers in the sense we have known bloggers to be.

These days it is a free for all traffic, you know a trend write about it and get traffic, but you know we could all do it no, could we not?

The thing is that I am not complaining about lack of quality, 9-10 blogs I read lack quality altogether. Well, a fact is that they do know and reserve the right to quality because they know what they want, they want traffic and money, they do not want to be known as good writers, but as writers who write crap over and over again to get traffic.

It’s like we are pulling lucky numbers out of the lotto pot .

Many of the the biggest bloggers could just write a post and cripple the traffic the so called keyword hungry bloggers do, but they don’t, that is quality, that is value, that is what bloggers are, they don’t game the system, they write quality content.

If I wanted I could write several articles to game the system and gain traffic, I don’t do that, not because I don’t want traffic, but because I have standards, and I have readers who matter to me more than traffic does.

Hey no one is perfect everyone does it, but yes if you do it every day in and out you are just so lame.

With time and readers one will grow, it is not a ranting this one it is a honest opinion.

Yeeee iPhone suckers who came here, iPhone 4G will have these features and will charge you $299 for it, and that is a upgrade cost, they will sell the phone you bought for $399 for $99 and you would have paid I guess $1000 yet for owning a 4th Generation phone.

Congratulations and you say a $700 phone is a rip-off, and by the way you also paid $2000 already no on your contract? Oh and you have to sign a new contract on your new phone, what the heck.

When will you stop paying money to those guys? Who is ripping you off here? And do pay me $5 for reading this, after all you are really hell bent on giving away money, and btw if you break your iPhone you have to pay full charges to get a new one.

90% Of The Sites Bluff On Pageviews

Enough said, 90% of the sites bluff when they say that they have 2.5x pageviews from what their actual traffic is.

Really I am serious about it, believe me I have seen lots of sites traffic you would not really have access to and search engine traffic DOES NOT CONVERT, so if you have 80% search engine traffic and still say that you have 2.5x conversion you are lying to everyone, shucks wish I could too,

There has been a slew of Indian celebrities who are looking to join the social bandwagon, Mallika Sherawat and Gul Panag were the real celebrities to join twitter and a dicey Shah Rukh Khan who is a fake though, now the most famous musician A.R. Rahman in India has also joined twitter.

Rahman recently won two Oscar awards for his songs in the movie Slumdog Millionaire bringing pride to a nation who loves their movies.

After six long months, we had a twype today, a Skype conference with people who you know on twitter, and it was really awesome, Ashish (@ashishmohta) tweeted about having a twype going on and I jumped in and asked if Sathya (@sahtyabhat) wanted to join, in quickly enough @djharsh tweeted about it and we got started out.

Slowly people started coming in and we finally had a awesome bunch of people, here are the people who were in the conference and their twitter ids in no particular order.

Well that’s the list there, 12 of us had the most awesome time discussing things and laughing to no ends, jokes were flying out from everyone and damn that’s the most I have laughed in quite a long time.

We discussed lot of things and eventually ran out of topics, the things that we discussed was facebook’s vanity url, monetizing blogs, databases and the impact Oracle’s taking over MySQL would have, WordPress and postreSQL, operating systems, mobile phones, web browsers, experiences we have with making other people use something we like, piracy in softwares in India, some wifi (wife’s LOL, that was too funny), taking people in another funny conversation, backward or forward compatibility with symbian phones, why apple sucks and much much more.

Overall we spend more than 3 and 1/2 hours discussing things and laughing our asses out, we bitched about a lot of things we normally do, but we had fun at it too, overall a very healthy and funny discussion, we are planning to have something like this every week or so .

Harshad’s request for no non-veg talk because Keshav was there.
Ashish’s jokes at the right time.

We getting serious and talking about several important things.
Bitching about things.
Explaining stuff to others
Shivaranjan’s taking people in…. LOL was funny at the end.
How we botched up in recording the entire conference.

Wohooooo tons and tons of more things we discussed and laughed about, but yes it was so nice to get back with a bunch of people who are like you and know how to have fun, am seriously looking forward to the new Twype now, will twitter about details and more later.

BTW here is a text chat log from the conference, sadly no audio streams will do it next time.

Aw crap me am not ranting at all, but the most ridiculous moment of life just arrived, people jumping over each other and getting to screw up their friends and everyone else and fight with them for a username they will not use in a few hours or days.

Aaaha and I considering how I know Facebook they will definitely not allow users to singup with celebrity names, of course they don’t want to have other users sell their accounts for millions they will do it themselves.

So try your luck get yourself a celebrity URL maybe in few years when Facebook gives up you will be a millionaire.

Go ahead get your domain on facebook, and yes you can get mine too, like I care about getting it.

Off To San Francisco Today For WordCamp SF 2009

I have missed a couple of WordCamp’s earlier, however this time I did not want to miss the WordCamp being held in SF, this one is probably the biggest WordCamp’s of all, and I had decided to make it there by hook or by crook .

WordCamp is a conference for WordPress where developers, designers and WordPress users come together to discuss things and of course have a blast at the end.

This year’s speakers are pretty exciting which will make this trip a really enjoyable one for me. The speakers include.

Matt Mullenweg – Founder and CEO of WordPress
Matt Cutts – Head of webspam team at Google
Tim Ferris – Author of the 4-hour Workweek
Andy Peatling – Lead Developer of BuddyPress
Chris Pirillo – Founder of Lockergnome

and a host of other interesting speakers who will definitely make WordCamp SF 2009 a worthy place to be at.

After the conference there is informal party, where they will be celebrating the 6th anniversary of WordPress, and then the developer day at the WordPress office on the next day.

I might go in for a hour or so for the Developer day, and then spend a couple of hours looking around SF before I finally head on my way back.

Will post pictures and other stuff once I get back from SF, just too pumped right now to be going there.

The Dumbest things I have ever done was to make aware to people that talking about 3 things after you had sex was not right, I urged them to talk about the dumb things they did in life. However that aside, no one really wanted to confess about the dumbest things they did in life, however they were more than candid (in stupid sense) to tell you the things they would say after sex, what did they think they were sleeping with prostitutes or gigolos?

Understood Sex is fun, but let’s keep it at home, and in the end humor it, let’s not make it something so serious that every person, who logs onto twitter see’s it.

For Goodness sakes, do we even care that there are 9-10-11-12-13-14-15-16-17-18 year old kids on twitter, agreed most of them are not kids anymore, but when kids log into to twitter do you want them to see, what stupid 3 words you would want to say after sex?

Twitter has stopped being mature, they don’t have anything in place to stop these things happening, they don’t care what age you are, but that aside, do you still think it is right to subject, young and small kids to this?

Think about it, someday you have a kid and they have a twitter account, would you want this crap to be shown to them as soon as they logon to twitter? The decision is up to you, if you can spread spam, try and sanitize it, your faithful friend is not only the one guarding the twitter neighborhood.
