Summer is a great time to come to these events: more out of towners and more cachers heading out after events for a day's caching. I hope it's really nice out so we can get some fresh air out on the deck. See you there George!

Just a note: please remember to log any coins/bugs into or out of your possession!
Event Description: Brunch in Dorchester, New Brunswick on July 25, 2009

The sandpiper festival celebrates it's 9th year in Dorchester. We would like to invite everyone for a Saturday Morning Brunch during our fine festivities.
Time: 10:am to 12
When: July 25, 2009
Where: 5013 Main St.
Who: GeoJo.ca and Brad
We're holding a Saturday morning brunch in Dorchester, to start off your day of geocaching in Tantramar.

Being new to Geocaching, one of the things we've come to enjoy immensely are the people we've been able to meet at the gatherings and enjoy online.

We're in the middle of at a plethora of interesting caches. It's a really pretty area. We have exceptional coffee and baked goods. All we need to make a good time of it is you. Everyone is welcome.
Sit and have a cup of joe with us, juice for the kids, and something yummy to munch on. Hope to see you here. We're easy to find on the Main Rd. not too far from the bird.

Speaking of birds, the Semipalmated Sandpiper Calidris pusilla, migrate to Dorchester Cape every year for feeding on the shore by the thousands. It's quite a sight to see especially at low tide.

Hope to see you in Dorchester for brunch.

CFA's (come from aways) are welcome, but in particular we're hoping to see local cachers (both new and fresh as well as old and embittered) to discuss a few potential ideas for caching in the local area.

Specifically, we're looking at creating a caching series from Sackville to Joggins (or even Parrsboro) and also hoping to have local cachers (Dorchester, Amherst, Aulac, Memramcook, Sackville, etc) input about holding a Bagtown Cache Dash for later in the summer or early in the fall to entice caching folks from all over the maritimes to our beautiful town and area for fun and adventure!

See you there!

Place: Hacienda del Nimrod/Casa rootie

Purpose: Camping Caching Fun

Can't make it to Munich's Oktoberfest (September 19-October 4,2009)? No problem! Come do it "Island style".

Come kick-off "Kachetoberfest" at Hacienda del Nimrod/Casa Rootie's with an on-site weekend camp out. Gather 'round Friday night's bonfire, scoff down grilled Oktoberfest and 'kraut, dazzle fellow campers with your best caching stories (lies), and celebrate the end of summer with your geo-buddies.

You're invited to pitch your tent in our yard, with access to in-house facilities for the weekend. You should bring your own towels and beverages, and there will be a $5 registration fee to help cover the cost of the BBQ.

Geocaching: The sport where YOU are the search engine. Woodstock PEI: The event where YOU are the entertainment! Prizes will be awarded for the best "track log art" creation, and our very own "Geo-Karaoke Star" -- yes, there will be singing, or something close to it.

In honor of rootie's sister's homecoming (BC geocacher, Kodiack), we will be releasing a new 13-cache series this weekend titled, "Shunpiking", with a special cache release titled, "When the Chick (Kodiack) Comes Home to Roost".

Games, prizes, camping, food, embarrassing karaoke, and geo-camraderie -- what more does anyone need? Throw in the chance for a dozen FTFs and the opportunity to hear rootie sing (and dance??) and it just doesn't get any better than this!!
Event Description: The co-ordinates listed above are for the "Square Pond Friends & Family RV Park", where the registration for this event will take place. There will be no geocaches in this park. All geocaches will be placed outside of the park. The owners of the park has given us a weekend special rate for the day park area ONLY. The cost is $20 tax included per tent, camper, etc. for the 2 night weekend. The $20 dollars is to be paid at the main entrance upon your arrival. The group camp area is predominately for tents and small pop up campers but we will try to accommodate everyone. Anyone wishing to have their own serviced lot has to pay full park rates and make their own reservations. The park phone number is 709 674-7566.

This is a geocache weekend so therefore the focus for this weekend is mainly Geocaching. We are guaranteeing 18 brand new caches in the area (maybe lots more). The coordinates for these new caches will be handed out on Friday night when the teams registers. These co-ordinates will not be published until after the event, Monday July 13th.

This event is open to everyone......seasoned cachers and newbie's. Bring your geo-family's, geo-friends and even your geo-dogs.The park is animal friendly as long as they are on a leash. We are hoping to have geo-cachers from near and far.

Other than the park fee, there is no other charge for this event. Meals are the responsibility of the geo-cachers themselves. The only thing that will be provided is wieners and marshmallows for the wiener roast on Friday night, so please bring your wiener sticks.

The winner of Heyou's Travel Bug race will be announced on Saturday night July 11th. (Please note:There will be a Travel Bug race again this year, hosted by Buddies - Buddies. Please watch for note explaining the rules. Don't forget to bring along your newly activated travel bugs.)

BARGAN: 3 EVENTS FOR THE PRICE OF ONE.
In addition to this event, Buddies - buddies is hosting Lets make it a clean fight CITO (Cash in Trash Out) Event GC1R11N, and also The wrong side of the tracks-II GC1R110 on Sunday July 12th.

Hook up for breakfast at Saxby's in Riverview.

The joint opens at 10 A.M., so this event will run from 1000 until 1100. Knowing how chatty geocachers are, I'll reserve spots 'til 1200, but officially it's an 1100 end-time. That allows us an "out" in case it's a beauty geocaching day.

Bring your travel bugs, bring your coins, bring your geo-tales, and bring yourselves.

Oh, and if you're planning on coming, please make a "will attend" log on this cache page so we can get a seat-count. Otherwise you might have to sit in the back corner with the local drunk "Old Man Merrigan". He smells of aging salami, and loves to re-tell his stories of working in the slaughterhouse.
Event Description:
Moncton's Race for Cache
The Post-Race Party & BBQ

The second annual Moncton Race for Cache is being held on August 15th, and geocacher's from all over are welcome to participate. If you would like to learn more about the race itself, head on over to the official race website. Teams interested in registering for the race MUST register online at the website no later than a week before the race. We also ask that you please log your intent to attend on this page whether you are racing or not.

This event will be held after the race and is a gathering for all geocachers whether they participate in the race or not. The event will take place in Pointe Du Chene, NB near Parlee Beach at 3pm. This is the actual finish line for the the race itself.

In the event of rain, the finish line (and subsequently this event) will be moved to an indoor location and this cache listing will be updated that morning. The event/race will NOT be cancelled due to weather.

The event will consist of the regular meet and greets, drinks, food, talk of geocaching and caching adventures, bug and coin swapping, as well as the actual crowning of the winners for the Moncton Race for Cache.

This is a potluck style BBQ so feel free to bring anything you wish to cook. You can also bring drinks, snacks, or anything else you wish to contribute to the BBQ. Racers are free to bring items if they choose but it is not required as they will be obtaining something while on the race itself. If you are going to bring something regardless, please make a note of it when you log your intent to attend.

All cachers who participate in the race should be in attendance as the winners will be announced at this event, and prizes given out.

Come on out and meet some fellow geocachers and see who gets crowned winner of the second annual Moncton's Race for Cache.

This event is for the post party celebration only. Registration and information about the actual race itself can be found at the race's website.

Hope to see you all there!

heritage.

There are five brand new geocache challenges in the park: the

which is being given in co-operation with the Keltic Lodge and an
EarthCache, in association with the Geological Society of
America.

The workshops are designed to introduce the newcomer to the sport
of geocaching, the national park, and safety in the woods. Come and

This is part of the "2009 Discover the Island" Coffee Cache Event Tour. Geo-events are being scheduled throughout the Island to encourage Island cachers to get out and discover the "Best of PEI" through its festivals, events and local cache hides.

Today is Canadian Multiculturalism Day, and few activities are more widespread and diverse than geocaching. Geocaches can be found in over 220 countries and cultures -- how many have you (or your TBs and geocoins) visited, and what are their caches like? Why not come out for an evening get-together and swap caching stories about your most diverse and exotic cache finds -- memorable locales, unique cammo jobs, and "unusual" containers and hiding techniques. How do you incorporate geocaching into your trips and vacations?

This is a great opportunity to meet fellow Island cachers, put faces to names, swap stories and lies, and make new caching contacts. Come for the "smiley" [:)] and stay for the fun [8D][^].

The June breakfast marks the one year anniversary that I have been hosting these events. Except for one event held at another location, we have been enjoying breakfast with our fellow cachers on the last Sunday of every month at Don Cherry's, so they have donated a gift certificate which we will draw for as a door prize. We hope to arrange a few other prizes as well, to thank you for sharing your time with us. We hope there will always be at least one monthly gathering to connect with our friends and fellow cachers.
Event Description: Caching for cash. It was a great success last year so why not make it bigger and better this year – more caches to find, bonus geobucks and a free barbeque at the end of the day!

There are a series of temporary geocaches hidden around the park, each with bundles of geobucks (OK, play money) stashed in them. With the clock running find as many as you can, grab the bucks while competing against other geocachers. Use the geobucks to bid for prizes, courtesy of the Irving Nature Park, at an auction. For the beginners, there will be a short “Introduction to Geocaching” presentation to help get you started. Teams will register before being given the cache coordinates and heading out on the hunt.

All interested parties are asked to meet at the shelter above the information kiosk.

The “Introduction to Geocaching” presentation starts at 10:30 a.m. The “Geocaching for Geobucks” competition will begin around 12 noon. The auction will follow the competition and wrapping up the day will be a free barbeque.

New to the event is a way to earn bonus geobucks. If you have a digital camera or camcorder … bring it!

Young and old, experienced and beginners join us for an afternoon of friendly geocaching with a twist. Do it alone or do it as a team, just do it!
Event Description: Ironbound's First Geocaching Event

Spend a day on Ironbound viewing the sites and finding its geocaches.

East Ironbound Island has been the setting for TV shows, a book or two, and even a movie. It also has one of the highest cache densities of any island in the Maritimes. This event will give people the chance to visit the island, tour its shores, and find its caches.

The event will occur on Saturday, August 1 with Sunday, Augst 2nd as the rain alternate. A rain decision will be made a day or two beforehand.

Eastriver is handling the mainland side of the event. A boat has been chartered to take two boatloads of twelve passengers each to the island. The first one will leave New Harbour wharf at 10:00 AM sharp. The approximate turn-around time is 1/2 hour. New Harbour is just off Hwy 329, via Hwy #3. Hwy 329 can be accessed at either Hubbards (exit 6 of the 103 Hwy) or at East River (Exit 7 of the 103 Hwy). Hwy 329 goes completely around the Aspotogan Penninsula and there are many caches on that Route as well.

Use GCY1CF as the co-ords to find the actual wharf. Please do not park right there as this is a private area. Parking is available where the wharf road branches off from the main road going around the harbour.

Islander1988 is handling the island side of things. Much of the island is private property, so he will guide the group along the roads and beaches. He will also make his family's house available for washroom facilities and be able to take people inside the island's one room school.

How do you prepare for the day? Here are things to bring.

A. Cost is $20.00 per person. Money will be collected just before we board that morning.

B. Everybody to bring their own PFD/lifejacket.

C. We will probably be out there until at least supper-time. Pick-up time will be arranged via cell phone in the afternoon.

D. Bring a lunch if you want, or snack foods, but definetly bring some water.

E. The terrain varies, and can be anywhere from gravel road to very slippery along the sea shore. A good hiking stick may be very useful that day. Good footwear is a must.

F. Don't forget your fly dope either.
For the latest discussion on the trip, watch for posts here and in the thread on ACGA.

We'll see you on the island!
Event Description: Come spend the afternoon with Da By's, and celebrate Canada Day.

Canada Day in our Provincial Parks is a nice family event. Some park have parades, games, nature hikes, and much more for the whole family.

This year I plan on having a geocache event in the old La Manche village, now part of La Manche Provincial Park.

There are 7 caches located in the park (one is a 5/5 rating), and there are 5 more that border the park. we plan on placing at least 5 more caches in the park both in the village and in the camping area.

The event will start rain or shine, (if it is snowing, or thunder and lightning this will be cancelled) at 1:00pm, at the above coords, and should last an hour.

The schedule will be as follows

1:00 - start of event / welcome
1:05 - breif history of La Manche Village
1:10 - moment of silence and ceremony for Remembering Beaumont Hammel.
1:20 - Happy Birthday Canada!
1:25 - FTF draw (with a twist), Sign log.
1:30 - Draw for prizes.
1:45 - Upcoming events, cacher milestones, group photo.
1:55 - Receive list of existing and new caches in the park/area
2:00 - Lets Geocache!

Parking for the event would be located at the end of La Manche road (located 1km south on route 10 from La Manche Provincial Park entrance); at the entrance to the East Coast Hiking Trail. You will have to hike down this trail to the village, and once there if early explore the village. I have counted over 150 people spending the afternoon hiking, picnicking, swimming, and even geocaching in the village quite often.

If you cannot make it to this event, try and make it out to your local Provincial Park and spend the day. I will add info for other Provincial Parks Canada Day events later on.

The hike to the village is an exciting one i have seen all types of wildlife from rare birds, to moose, hares, eagles, otters, seals, and even whales are also common sight at the village.

give your self a good 30 - 45 minutes to hike the trail to the village from the parking lot. please wear suitable shoes, there are some places where crocks or sandles are not good to have on your feet.

the village is also a great place to have a picnic, however camping in this area is forbidden due to its remoteness and lack of cell phone coverage.

where this is our first event if anyone would like to donate something, help out, or give us a few pointers feel free to contact me.

finally if you are planning on attending please let me know so i would have somewhat of an idea on a general number.

Please take the attributes into consideration (Remember this is a Provincial Park)
No open fires
No camping
No cutting
ALL DOGS MUST BE ON A LEASH!
there are no restrooms near by
no cell phone coverage
there are cliffs and steep hills in the area so keep back from edges.
parking at the ECT trail head is free however if you wish to park in the park it may cost you (also there is a big hil to climb)
you can get a stroller to the village however it would be easier to leave it in the car (trust me on that)

any questions feel free to contact me.
Event Description: Scheduled for the last day of the campout event, this is an opportunity to log a new cache type for most of you as well as doing something that contributes to the community.

While out maintaining a cache I ran into a fellow cacher and we got into a discussion on how much litter was strewn about this area.

The plan is to meet at Tim Horton's (N 48° 57.271 W 054° 36.140) at 9:00AM.

At 9:30AM we will depart for the published co-ordinates and perform a general clean-up of the area using trash bags. The clean-up should probably take about 60 to 90 minutes, leaving time for lunch before the 2nd annual Dash & Splash Flash Geocache Event for those geocachers looking to attend.

There will be a CITO coin awarded to one of the participants in a random draw.

Garbage Bags will be provided, but those of you that have workgloves are encouraged to bring them.

The definition of a Flash Mob is a large group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, do something unusual for a brief period of time, then quickly disperse. We hope to accomplish exactly that so timing is important.

On Sunday July 12th at 11:55 AM people will assemble in two clearly defined groups at either side of the section of the transcanadian trail (AKA The Tracks) marked by the published battle coordinates - depending upon which side of the tracks you live on...

If you live on the Cobb's Pond side of the tracks, came into Gander via Gander Bay Road or if you came into Gander from the west via the TCH you assemble at the Airport Blvd end of the trans canadian trail as marked by the coordinates N48'57.879 W054'37.023

If you live on the Gander Airport side of the tracks, or if you came into Gander from the east via the TCH you assemble at the Memorial Drive end of the trans canadian trail as marked by the coordinates N48'57.768 W054'36.597.

At high noon both sides will advance upon each other bearing various water-pistols, super-soakers, and so on for a ten minute H2O meelee... the only rule is no muggle soaking - if the person isn't holding a water weapon of some sort and appears to be confused by the sudden crowd of water happy people than please do not soak them.

At exactly 12:10 PM a cease-fire will be issued, where everyone will stand down their weapons and sign the year long peace treaty (AKA the logbook).

Bring lots of 'ammo' folks it's going to be a wet one!
Oh and of course no frozen water balloons!
