Woke up this morning to the news that Adam Lambert had lost to what’s his face. To say that I’m angry would be an understatement. Apparently a bunch of fuckwit Christians decided to vote against Adam to suit their fucked up belief that gay people are sub-human (Melissa lays it out at her place).

Since I’ve got nothing to add to Melissa’s take on it besides a very long stream of cusswords, here’s Adam singing Mad World:

Coffee Coffee Coffee

Having been raised a Baptist I often find Unitarianism to be somewhat annoying, however, there’s one thing I can agree with Unitarians on.

Coffee.

I love it and most them apparently do also. So much in fact, that one of their reverends wrote a song about it (sung to the tune of Holy, Holy, Holy):

Coffee, Coffee, Coffee,
Praise the strength of coffee.
Early in the morn we rise with thoughts of only thee.
Served fresh or reheated,
Dark by thee defeated,
Brewed black by perk or drip or instantly.

How to fail at calling someone out

Should you ever wish to call someone out for inappropriate behaviour, there’s a simple rule you should keep in mind when doing so.

Do not engage in the behaviour you’re calling the other person out for.

For example, if you want to call someone out on things they’ve said or written about women you should refrain from referring to women as somehow inferior to men. As strange as it may sound, once you call someone else a misogynist, it’s considered hypocrisy (at the very least) to precede to engage in misogyny yourself.

Take, for example, Mike S. Adams who called out Perez Hilton’s continuous use of misogynistic words in a faux-apology I found post at One News Now.

About three-fourths of the way through the column and well after he called Perez a misogynist, the following sentence can be found:

I am sorry that gay men are self-loathing enough to allow other men to treat them as women.

Now exactly how does a man treat another man like a woman? Give up? It’s quite simple. A man treats another man like a woman when he screws him and being screwed is one of the most awful things that can happen to a person who isn’t a woman. You have to positively hate yourself to want to be treated like a woman.

So, now you know how to fail out calling someone out. Any questions?

Christianity’s latest (absurd) whine

A few weeks or so ago a British man managed to get the Church of England to officially recognize that he was no longer a member. As a result of the publicity somewhere around 100 thousand Brits have downloaded the form requesting the church quit counting them as members.

As you’ve probably guessed from the title of this post, there’s at least one Christian whose got a problem with this. According to Thomas A. Flynn, requesting that a group quit counting you as a member is an attack upon that group.

The National Secular Society in England has launched an initiative to request a certificate of de-baptism. So far they say that 100,000 Brits have downloaded the document from the Internet, disgusted by the idea of being called a Christian. Some are calling baptism “a form of child abuse”, as if the gift of faith we equivalent to the atrocious situations of violence in the home that we all know so well.

This is just the latest attack by atheistic groups around the globe. Pro-atheism advertisements have been draped on buses in several countries with phrases like “There’s probably no God. Now stop worrying and enjoy your life.” These, alongside the extensive array of anti-God best-sellers by authors like Richard Dawkins, Daniel Dennett, and Christopher Hitchens, announce that atheism is on the march.

All these Brits are doing is requesting that a group they do not consider themselves a part of quit counting them as members. Nothing more, nothing less. How is that an attack by atheists?

It’s only an attack if you think that anything but absolute silence is an act of persecution. Christians may not be as violent as Muslims, but they are far from the democracy supporting freedom loving sweethearts they insist they are.

Just wanted to pop in for a moment to say I probably won’t be posting much for the rest of the week.

The reason being our daughter was hospitalized over the weekend after having a seizure. She’s alright now (already back at school) but I’m still exhausted and would probably sleep this week away if I could, but there’s follow-ups to do and medicine to “instill”.
