Heavily armored troop carrier refitted for Afghan terrain

As it rumbled down a steep hill at the Aberdeen Test Center, the huge armored troop carrier hit a bump and briefly caught air. Thanks to a modified suspension, the 22-ton truck did not land with a bone-jarring clatter. Instead, its knobby front tires seemed to glide back to the dirt road.

Change in garbage, recycling routine is part of mayor's effort to make a cleaner Baltimore

The sun had only begun to cast shadows Friday as garbage collectors jumped into their trucks to begin routes that have remained virtually unchanged for more than 40 years. But starting Monday, sweeping changes will come to Baltimore's sanitation routine.

Anne Arundel County police are investigating the death of an 83-year-old woman whose body they found Friday evening in a home freezer in Glen Burnie. Doris Lea Cooke had several medical conditions and had been bedridden for years, family members and witnesses told detectives. When she died several weeks ago, relatives allegedly placed her body in a freezer in the 7400 block of Furnace Branch Road. An autopsy will determine the cause of Cooke's death.

But sharing one with Rowling characters is not magical for some in Md.

It isn't enough of a coincidence that he shares a name with the most famous literary character on the planet. He would have to have a scar on his forehead, starting between his eyes and snaking up his forehead in a line - just like the boy wizard created by J.K. Rowling.
