How to capture screenshots on your PSP

Now that you’ve installed custom firmware on your PSP, you’re probably wondering what you can do with it right? How about taking screenshots on your PSP? Interested? Keep on reading

Requirements:

Any PSP with Custom Firmware installed. If you don’t have custom firmware on your PSP, read this guide on how to install custom firmware.
Download: Screencapture | Screencapture

How to install Screen Capture on your PSP

Extract the Screencapture pack anywhere on your computer
Connect your PSP to your PC and check if there is a seplugins folder on the root of your memory stick.
If you don’t have a seplugins folder, copy the seplugins folder to the root of your memory stick as shown below

If you don’t have a seplugins folder, check if you have these 3 files inside it:

Copy screenshotbmp.prx from the seplugins from the folder you’ve extracted to the seplugins folder on the root of your memory stick
Go to the seplugins folder and open these files:

game.txt
pops.txt
vsh.txt

On each file add the line:

ms0:/seplugins/screenshotbmp.prx

If you don’t have any of those 3 files mentioned above, just copy the ones from the seplugins folder you’ve just extracted

Turn off your PSP (Off, not standby, if you’re running custom firmware via chickHen, DO NOT do this)
Enter the recovery menu (if you’ve not on chickHen, hold the R button when turning on your PSP
Go to plugins and enable the screenshotbmp.prx where you want to use it

game = inside a PSP game
pops = inside a POPS loader game/ PSX game
vsh = on your XMB

Press the note button and you should see your PSP’s screen inverting it’s colors (you’ll know it when you see it). This is the screenshot plugin working.

If you’re having trouble installing custom firmware 5.03 GEN-A don’t fret. You can install Custom Firmware Enabler (cfwe in shorter terms) instead. CFWE enables the functions of the M33 custom firmware using ChickHEN. So yes, it’s from the same team that brought us Dark Alex’s 5.00 M33 custom firmware.

Custom Firmware Enabler will allow you to run homebrew on the PSP-3000 or PSP-2000 w/TA-088v3 and lets you play your games from ISO/CSO files.

This guide will help you install Custom Firmware Enabler on your PSP-3000 / PSP-2000 TA-088v3 to custom firmware. Note that the steps are quite numerous because there are 3 parts to installing Custom Firmware Enabler. Read them well and make sure you understand them before proceeding.

There is no danger of bricking your PSP unless you deviate from the instructions listed below. Unlike custom firmware for hackable PSPs, the danger of bricking your PSP-3000 / PSP-2000 TA-088v3 is quite real. If you’re not sure about a step, take the time to post a question.

How to Install Custom Firmware Enabler for ChickHEN

Important:

If you have a PSP-2000 and have no idea what motherboard you have, be sure to read this CFW Compatibility Guide. If you have a PSP-2000 that’s not TA-088v3 or PSP-1000 and want to convert your PSP to custom firmware, read this guide on How to install custom firmware. After installing custom firmware, update to 5.00 m33. If you have confirmed that you have a PSP-3000 or PSP-2000 with TA-088v3 then read on.

If you don’t want to install the Custom Firmware Enabler and want to install custom firmware 5.03 Gen-A instead, just read the 5.03 Gen-A installation guide.

Requirements:

A PSP-3000 or PSP-2000 with TA-088v3 motherboard.
Davee’s chickHen installed and running
Download: CFWE | CFWE (currently version 3.5)
Back up your save files (so that if they get corrupted, you still have backups)

Before you proceed to installing custom firmware CFWE, you need to install and successfully run the chickHen hack. Read the guide and comeback here to finish the installation.

How to Install Custom Firmware Enabler

Connect your PSP to the computer in USB Mode when you have loaded ChickHEN R2.
Unzip CFWEnabler350.zip on your computer
Copy the folder to your psp CFWEnabler in X: / PSP / GAME /
Disconnect the PSP from USB.
On your PSP, Go to GAME > Memory Stick > CFWEnabler
The CFWEnabler screen will boot up, Select install and your PSP will reboot.
Congratulations, you now have 5.00 M33-6 (yes, it loads 5.00 M33-6) on your PSP.

FAQS:

Help! 503.pbp is corrupted, I can’t run it – If you’re experiencing this problem, rename the 503.pbp to EBOOT.pbp. (Do this ONLY if you’re experiencing the problem indicated)

Will it brick my PSP? – Only if you mess around with the instructions.

If I turn off my PSP, do I reload CFWE? – Yes, you just have to run it again but, you don’t need flash anything.

Will plugins work? – Yes, they work.

Install PSP Custom Firmware 5.50 GEN-A

While everyone’s still waiting for a Dark Alex release his version of 5.50 custom firmware, PSP GEN has managed to release their 5.50 GEN-A Custom Firmware. Do note that the earlier 5.03 GEN-A via ChickHEN hack release is for PSP-3000 / PSP-2000 TA088v3. This version of 5.50 GEN-A is for PSP-1000 / non-TA088v3 PSP-2000’s.

Important: DO NOT attempt to install this on PSP-3000 / PSP-2000 TA088v3. YOU WILL BRICK YOUR PSP IF YOU DO.

Requirements:

PSP Phat or PSP Slim with 3.52 M33 or higher. If you don’t have custom Firmware yet, read this CFW Compatibility Guide to see if you can have it installed on your PSP. If you don’t have custom firmware, read this guide on How to install custom firmware first.
PSP battery that’s at least 78% full
Download: 5.50 GEN-A | 5.50 GEN-A
Disable ALL plugins.
Back up your save files (so that if they get corrupted, you still have backups)

How to install 5.50 GEN-A CFW on your PSP:

Extract the 5.50 GEN-A files to your computer.
Copy the PSP folder to your PSP’s memory stick. (Yes, just drag the whole folder there)
Run 5.50 UPDATE from under Game on your PSP’s XMB
After all process is complete, press X. Your PSP will reboot.
Congratulations, you’ve just installed 5.50 GEN-A

Important Notes:

What do I get with Custom firmware 5.50GEN-A?

All functions of the official 5.50 firmware
- The [Information Board] has been added under [PlayStation Network]
- Support for Internet security service provided by Trend Micro has been added to [Internet Browser]
- An icon for built-in Internet Search has been added to the menu bar of your browser
- Option to search for the game title on Google.
- It is now possible to see an additional level of hierarchy under [Photo] [Music] and [Video]
Launch of UMDs to ISOs to CSOs and demos require firmware 5.02 or below
Launch homebrews
Launch of PS1 games (converted to PSP)
Access to Recovery mode (adjusts the processor speed of the PSP, FLASH access, use plug-ins etc.).

Life-Size Gundam RX-78-2 Completed

It’s the biggest Gundam model you’ll ever see (so far). This 1/1 scale Gundam RX-78-2 statue is just one of the Mobile Suit Gundam’s 30th anniversary celebrations and gundam fans around the world are drooling like crazy over this huge mecha.

Can you pilot it? Sadly no. It’s just a statue but you can view more in the gallery below.

The Gundam is planned to be OFFICIALLY unveiled on July 11, and be shown until August 31st.

Homebrew can now run on the PSP-3000 or PSP-2000 with TA-088v3 thanks to PSPGEN and Team Typhoon. The chickHen hack allows you to run Homebrew on both PSP models and custom firmware 5.03 Gen-A lets you play your games from ISO/CSO files.

This guide will help you convert your PSP-3000 / PSP-2000 TA-088v3 to custom firmware 5.03 Gen-A. Note that the steps are quite numerous because there are 3 parts to installing 5.03 Gen-A. Read them well and make sure you understand them before proceeding.

Important: If you have official firmware 5.50 installed, stop now. You can’t install the chickHen hack which means you can’t install 5.03 Gen-A. As of 5.50 ofw, the TIFF exploit that the chickHen hack runs on is already patched.

How to Install Custom Firmware 5.03GEN-A for ChickHEN

Important:

If you don’t want to install custom firmware 5.03 Gen-A and want to install Custom Firmware Enabler instead, just read the Custom Firmware Enabler installation guide.

Requirements:

A PSP-3000 or PSP-2000 with TA-088v3 motherboard.
Davee’s chickHen installed and running
Download: GEN-A | GEN-A
Back up your save files (so that if they get corrupted, you still have backups)

Before you proceed to installing custom firmware 5.03 Gen-A, you need to install and successfully run the chickHen hack. Read the guide and comeback here to finish the installation.

How to Install 5.03 GEN-A

Connect your PSP to the computer in USB Mode when you have loaded ChickHEN R2.
Unzip 5.03GEN-A_for_HEN.zip on your computer
Run the LAUNCH-ME.exe (GUI) Application
PSP Model : choose your PSP PSP-2000 or PSP-3000 (shown below)
- PSP 2000 = Slim and Lite
- PSP 3000 = Brite

Choose the option ‘FULL’ under Mode
Choose the option ‘Yes’ under PSP Install
PSP Drive Unit: Type the letter of your PSP’s Drive. Do not “:” but just the letter (example, the PSP is recognized G)
press START , and the files will be patched and copied to the Memory Stick.
Disconnect the PSP from USB.
Launch the homebrew file ‘INSTALLER-LOADER’ under ‘GAME > Memory Stick’.

When the app load, press L or R to flash the firmware in your flash. You will see this screen again but only to load the 5.03 custom firmware

After the flash done, press O [it's the circle button] to reboot in the custom firmware.

After the PSP reboot, you are finish installation proses. Now your firmware is 5.03 GEN-A(full).

IMPORTANT NOTES:

Help! 503.pbp is corrupted, I can’t run it.
If you’re experiencing this problem, rename the 503.pbp to EBOOT.pbp. (Do this ONLY if you’re experiencing the problem indicated)

No risk of brick in normal use
Custom Firmware 5.03GEN for HEN-A can not brick your console during the installation. Understand that the
Custom Firmware 5.03GEN for HEN-A adds the files it needs but does not those of the official firmware 5.03.
Once installed, as it is a Custom Firmware, you have access to the flash0 of your console.

DO NOT TOUCH THE FLASH0
Don’t EVER load the flasher to flash0 of your PSP. Do not edit any files of OFW 5.03. If you do then congratulations, you’ve just bricked your PSP. If you manage to brick your PSP installing custom firmware (which as stated above is not possible under NORMAL usage), you need to talk to Sony and I’m sure they’ll be happy to take in your case (NOT!)

DON’T TURN OFF YOUR PSP.
You can put your PSP to sleep/standyby but don’t allow it to drain it’s battery to 0%. If you do, you will need to you will need use again ChickHEN R2 to load the main app and press ( ) to reboot in the custom firmware.

After installation, remove the “files” folder in the MS ROOT. For your own safety, is better that you rename or erase the prx called “flasher.prx” in the MAIN APP folder to avoid wrong flash times.

Install ChickHen R2 on your PSP

Thanks to Davee and Team typhoon, custom firmware can now run on PSP-3000 or PSP-2000 with TA-088v3 via the chickHen hack. Using chickHen, you can run custom firmware to play ISO/CSO games and run homebrew applications.

So what is chickHen?

ChickHEN is an loader for all Sony PSP models (1000, 2000 and 3000) to run homebrew apps on official Sony 5.03 firmware. Everything runs on the onboard memory of the PSP so there’s no risk of damage (unless you stray away from the instructions). The current version of chickHen is chickHen-R2.

Important: If you have official firmware 5.50 installed, stop now. You can’t install the chickHen hack which means you can’t install the Custom Firmware Enabler. As of 5.50 ofw, the TIFF exploit that the chickHen hack runs on is already patched.

Requirements:

A PSP-3000 or PSP-2000 with TA-088v3 motherboard.
A firmware version of 5.03 or lower. If you have anything higher, you can’t install chickHen.
Download: 503.pbp
Download: ChickHEN R2 | ChickHEN R2

Update your PSP to OFW 5.03

Skip this step if you already have official firmware 5.03 installed.

Connect your PSP to the computer in USB Mode
Copy the 503.pbp to folder PSP/GAME/UPDATE
Disconnect the PSP from USB.
Run the Update via XMB
When the update finishes proceed to installing chickHen R2.

How to Install chickHEN R2

On the Settings menu of your PSP’s XMB, do the following
- Restore to Default Settings’ of PSP
- Turn off UMD Auto-Start and UMD Cache
Connect your PSP to the computer in USB Mode
Unzip ChickHEN R2.zip on your computer
Copy h.bin to your memory stick root, this is where the VIDEO, PICTURE and PSP folders are.
Copy the chickHEN folder (use the contents PHAT folder for PSP-1000s, SLIM folder for PSP-2000s and PSP-3000s) inside the PHOTO folder of your PSP (X:/PSP/PHOTO is the root of the memory stick, manually create this if you don’t see one)
Disconnect the PSP from USB.
Turn OFF (not standby) your PSP and turn it on again.
Goto XMB >> Photo >> Memory Stick and wait (YES YOU NEED TO WAIT) an Options menu appear (Right Bottom)
Hit X to open ChickHEN folder
If you’re successful ChickHEN-R2 load up, you’ll see flashing colors, and your PSP will reboot automatically into ChickHEN. Check your Firmware version and you should see :

5.03 ChickHEN R2

If it doesn’t work (meaning you just see 5.03 and not 5.03 ChickHEN R2), repeat the process by restarting your PSP (OFF then ON), and quickly click on the chickHEN folder. Getting it to work is trial and error.
If you do succeed however, you can now proceed to run custom firmware on your PSP. You can choose:

Troubleshooting

If you’re experiencing trouble (and yes, a lot of people are having trouble running ChickHen) try these:

Change the character set code to the US (437) or Multilingual latin 1 (850), this code are used for system access of some file types. Its most happen on PSP other than the US version.
Adding 1 to 2 extra gif images, copy and paste with name e.g. ChickHENe.gif, ChickHENf.gif. Its most happen on High Speed memory stick pro duo. Fake MS or Not
Don’t use the chickHen folder other than for pictures used for chickHen.
Don’t change PSP Themes other than default setting, Change your theme to the default theme or use the Restore PSP to Default Settings.
Try to use a different memory stick.

Starcraft 2 release date is 2009?

Blizzard’s Mike Morhaime confirmed via the E3 Liveblog that Starcraft II will indeed be shipped by the end of 2009 although he then says that’s not yet set in stone. After all, it’s blizzard. They won’t announce an official starcraft 2 release date without having the game really polished for release.

A starcraft 2 release date in 2009 will be sad news to any other major game releasing this holiday season but if it does, it’ll be just in time to be on Windows 7, which will be releasing on October 22.

Here’s the important excerpts:

[6:54] The new Battle.net service will launch alongside Starcraft II, which represents a return to the company’s roots.

[6:54] Morhaime talks about the series’ well documented popularity in South Korea, where he says it is akin to a national sport.

[6:55] There will be a Starcraft II beta test later this summer, and Morhaime offers to get anyone in attendance into the program. Morhaime expects to launch Starcraft II by the end of the year, though also notes that it will only ship once the game is done.

[6:56] Morhaime said more about the games will be revealed at BlizzCon, and encourages everyone to attend the August show, which sold out yesterday.

On a side note, October seems to be sweet spot to gamers. Even the PSP Go is launching on October 1.

Here’s to wishing that a starcraft 2 release date is indeed 2009.

This is the new PSP Go

While Sony has to confirm the news, you can bet your marbles that the PSP Go is real and it’s coming. SOON! Information on the non-UMD PSP model leaked just a few days before the Sony Press Conference at E3. What information you ask? Pictures of the PSP GO. that’s what

This is the new PSP Go. Wonder how it’ll play? Don’t worry. We’ll get our hands on it soon. E3 is just a few days away right?

Here’s a comparison of the PSP Go vs PSP Phat. Sure the screen is smaller but not by a lot. The differences in the layout is quite remarkable though. The original PSP buttons are gone (display, sound, volume) but the new interface is actually much more appealling.

The only issues that I see with the new PSP hardware is the proximity of the back of the screen to the shoulder buttons. If you’re too close, you’ll end up rubbing your fingers against it making gameplay irritable. Then there’s the size. From experience, past PSP models are admittedly bulky, not because of their weight but because of their width. Because of the orientation of the controls (on both sides of the PSP), your hands tend to hold the unit there making the bulk issue. The PSP Go has it’s controls at the bottom of the unit, making it feel much more like holding a controller but it’s still a matter of personal preference.

I personally can’t wait to get my hands on one of these and test it out. If they come out before I get my hands on my next PSP purchase, I’ll no doubt get one pronto. If not for the curves of the hardware, then it’s the 16 GB onboard memory. Yes, the PSP Go uses onboard memory AND it has a slot for your Sony Memory Stick. Now you can’t complain that you LACK storage

Aside from Wifi, the PSP Go also carries bluetooth connectivity. This replaces the IR from the Phat series and adds an additional networking capability that was lacking in the Slim and Brite.

The question on current PSP gamers’ minds is probably the one concerned about porting their CURRENT UMDs to the PSP Go. My guess is Sony will provide digital version downloads for us via the PSN instead of a converter. It’s much more efficient and user friendly but the trade off is bandwidth. Luckily, the PSN is free

And before you it enters your mind. NO, the PSP Go is definitely not CFW-able. At least not yet.

Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance

The second Neon Genesis Evangelion movie, Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance is now set for June 27th. It continues where Evangelion: 1.0 You are (Not) Alone left off and overwrites the original series’ events.

Yes, you read that right, overwrite. This was confirmed via the short preview at the end of Evangelion 1.0. New characters (you can see her in the poster on the right), new scenes and a whole new storyline is promised for Evangelion 2.0. Will it remake the fanbase? I certainly hope so. One of the qualms about Evangelion is that it’s too complex to get a grasp of everything in more than just one, two or seven sittings.

It took me 12.

Aside from everything new, one huge reason to look forward to Evangelion 2.0 is the return of Asuka Langley Sohryu.

Digital remaster versions of the TV series for DVD and Blu-ray is now available starting with episodes 1-6. A remaster version of the remake movie dubbed Evangelion: 1.11 is also available.

Evangelion remake gets remastered version

Evangelion 1.0 You Are Not Alone was released about two years ago. Hailed as the remake for the beloved series, it brought new scenes, new animation and a whole new Evangelion World for otakus and eva-fan alike. Even now, I’m still thinking of posting a review for it in preparation for Evangelion 2.0 You Cannot Advance, the second movie that’s supposed to be out this June but that’s for later.

This nth remastered version of the franchise ups the quality of the visuals up another technological notch. Looking back at the original series and comparing it with the current release (as shown below), it’s really an impressive update.

The latest remastering techniques are said to have been employed to aid in this impressive increase in visual quality, and this is not all: there are also said to 99 revised scenes, and 36 additional ones. The soundtrack has also been upgraded to the latest standard, now coming in Dolby TrueHD 6.1.

Evangelion 1.11 contains 99 revised scenes, and 36 additional ones. The soundtrack has also been upgraded to the latest standard, now coming in Dolby TrueHD 6.1. Evangelion die hards can get 1.11 on Blu-Ray and DVD format.

Anime Titles to watch [May 2009]

Although I don’t watch or follow titles as fervently as I did when I was still in school, I still find time to watch some anime to pass time or follow up on titles that I simply can’t drop (no, not naruto and bleach nor dragonball ). I can only manage a few episodes a week because of my hectic schedule so I make sure I pick titles that I can really enjoy.

Here’s a few titles currently on my to-watch list and some notes on why they should be on yours too.

I can’t believe how popular this anime is right now, so much that it actually drove sales of instruments shown in the anime (that’s some otaku power for you). K-ON! rotates around Yui, Mio, Ritsu and Mugi, four high-schoolers aiming for a once in a lifetime performanc, Budokan Live.

It’s probably not for anime fans looking for a more “macho” anime since it’s more cutesy rather than umph but rest assured that K-ON’s soundtrack is not just a girly tune. It’s actually pretty good.

Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu Season 2

It was still rumor until the supposed re-run of season one turned out to be the first episode of season 2 How’s that for marketing?

As expected, episode one gives us the same mind-bending paradox that made the first season such a hit. If you decide to watch the series, be sure to pick up your brain after the series is over.

Full Metal Alchemist (Full Manga Adaptation)

Ok, the Full Manga Adaptation might be a bit of a doozy to most but it’s pretty self-explanatory. If you managed to watch the first series and compare it to the manga, you’ll note some differences galaxies apart. Like most titles, many consider the manga superior to the anime. Despite this it’s became popular enough to spawn the Full Manga Adaptation.

On a critical note, the first series had more polished artwork although the full manga adaptation is more consistent.

Hajime no Ippo – New Challenger

New Challenger is the continuation of the series AFTER both movies (Ippo’s title defense and Kimura vs Mashina). Ippo’s sights are now set to Ricardo Martinez the WBC Featherweight Champion and Takamura on Brian Hawk the WBC Middleweight Champion.

The series is currently on episode 20 and things have definitely heated up. It’s Brian Hawk vs Mamoru Takamura for the championship belt at the moment so if you haven’t caught on the series yet, now is a good time to do so.

Valkyria Chronicles

I don’t have a PS3. Why did I just say that? Because Valkyria Chronicles is the anime adaptation of a PS3 game of the same title. My first impression was that only people who had played the game would like it. It was a premature judgement as I ended up liking the series. It’s comic and light at times and has less action than the game but it’s still an interesting watch.

Not on this list is Detective Conan but since it’s been so long and winding (currently at episode 530+). If you have an anime title you want to share that’s worth watching, post a comment. It’s free

Much to the chagrin of English speaking Final Fantasy fans, the very Limited Edition Dissidia PSP Bundle never made it out of Japan. Final Fantasy fans gobbled the prized bundles like clock work and everyone else is left to wonder if we’ll be able to get our hands on one. Turns out that there’s something in for patient fans like us.

Square Enix has prepped up a Final Fantasy Dissidia Entertainment Pack that contains:

MyBrute has asploded the internets. It’s gained so much attention that a MyBrute Guide is needed for you to create the ultimate BRUTE! Here’s a newbie guide to anyone interested in the game. What is My Brute? MyBrute is a free online flash game that’s free, online and a flash game (did that make sense? o.O). Where you battle other brutes and go like every other RPG, and that’s level up and beat more brutes!

My brute.com – Creating your Brute

You’ll start off by customizing your Brute, but even before that, you should start off by seeking a Brute Master to sign up.

Just click the link above, specify a name for your Brute, and customize his/her looks. After you battle (and no doubtly lose to) your master, just add a password so that only YOU can your Brute.

My Brute Gameplay

Brutes gain experience and level up from fights. Each time they level they have a chance to increase one of their three stats strength, agility and speed. They also have a chance to gain a new weapon to use in battle, a new specialty, or a new pet.

My Brute Specialties

There are a total of 28 specialties a brute can gain every time they level up.
Specialities are passive abilities that make your brute stronger, for example a bonus to stamina, strength, or damage mitigation.

Supers

Supers are powers that your brute can activate during battle, like throwing a bomb or drinking a potion.

Weapons

Weapons make your brute’s attacks much more powerful. Some weapons make you attack often for small damage, some weapons miss alot but deal alot of damage, and some weapons do mediocre damage but hit often.

Fan: Hits a few times for 5 damage. Can counterattack too.
Leek: Does alot of attacks but hits for only 5 damage each time.
Tennis Racket: Does below average damage, but always retaliates and sometimes blocks an attack.
Knife: Does below-average damage, but always hits and grants bonus attacks.
Sai: A samurai-style knife that looks like the tip of a trident. Very similar to the traditional knife, but does a bit less damage.
Keyboard: Does multiple attacks doing average damage. Not too impressive!
Ninja stars: Fires a volley of ninja stars at your opponent. Does average damage.
Birdlike Thing: Throws something that looks like a bird to your opponent. A throwing weapon that hits for below-average damage.
Baton: A simple stick that does low damage but sometimes blocks your opponent’s attacks.
Frying Pan: Does average damage and can block blows.
Lance: A poking device. Does below average damage and sometimes retaliates your opponent’s attacks.
Broadsword: A standard sword. Does average damage, sometimes does more than 1 hit.
Mammoth’s Bone: A large bone. Does average damage. Overall a pretty solid starting weapon.
Trident: Similar to the whip, sometimes does multiple attacks and retaliates your opponent’s attacks for average damage.
Whip: Does average damage, and makes your character attack a LOT and retaliate your opponent’s attacks.
Noodle Bowl: Throwing weapon. Does average damage and multiple attacks.
Greatsword: Like the broadsword, but does a bit more damage and has a higher chance to miss.
Hatchet: Does above average damage, hits most of the time, but doesn’t do multiple attacks.
Halberd: Does above average damage, retaliates sometimes and does multiple hits. Misses alot, unfortunately.
Bumps: A large wooden club. Does alot of damage, but misses alot too. Not very useful against high agility opponents.
Iron Mace: Similar to the wooden variant, but it seems to be more accurate. Does loads of damage!
Stone Hammer: Does even higher damage than the bumps and the iron mace, in exchange for a bit higher missrate.
Trombone: Does about above average damage per hit and often hits multiple times. Pretty good!
Scourge: A flail. Definately among the best weapons in the game. Definitely among the best weapons in the game. Does insane damage, and seems pretty accurate.
Pets: Pets are one of the strongest assets a brute can have. Important is to note that your brute can have multiple of the same pets at once, and also multiple different pets. Your brute starts out with all the pets he has by his side.

My Brute Pets

Dog
The weakest of all pets. Takes about 20 damage before it dies, does about 4 damage per attack, attacks 2-3 times.
Wolf
Stronger than the dog, this pet does about 12 damage per attack, and attacks very frequently. It also dodges incoming attacks.
Bear
The best bonus your brute can have! Can deal and endure a LOT of damage!

Rankings are determined by how well you do in the tournament:

Brutal Legend: Make it to the finals.
Dentist of Chaos: Semifinals
Satan’s Biceps: Quarter-finals
Sword Swallower: Be one of the final 8
Hemoglobin: Final 16
Beserk Soul: Final 32
Vengeful Flame: Final 64
Iron Fist: Final 128
Richter Thumper: Final 256
Sticking Plaster Ripper: One

Confirmed Rules
Level 2 =4exp
Level 3 =8exp
Level 4 =12exp

Brutes only receive experience when initiating Attacks, therefore attack equal level or lower brutes to progress faster.
Getting Pupils* adds to your experience.
You cannot accumulate unused fights
You cannot Delete a Brute, If you do not use a brute and do not password protect it then it will be deleted on server cleanup (Thereby freeing up unused names).
All skills, weapons and animals all seem to be random. You will receive a new one each level.
You cannot modify brutes in any way.
You can Join and leave clans at will.
If you win a battle you initiated you receive 2exp unless your opponent is 3 or more levels below you then you receive 1exp. If you lose you receive 1exp.
When your Pupil* initially joins and when it makes a level you receive 1exp.
Tournaments can only be played every other day.
In order to progress UP ranks(not levels) you must win in tournaments.
Server Resets 6pm EST so use your fights before that!

How to get a bear

Look for a character with a bear pet and pupil him/her. One example is My Brute right here.
Level your brute up to level 3 as that’s the first chance you’ll get a pet.
From there you have a 30% chance of getting a bear every time you level!

The photographs you see in this gallery of free six pictures were taken with my Nikon D40. I’ve had my SLR for just about a year now and I’m still turning over a new leaf with each shot I take. I’ve learned quite a lot from taking these shots but I still don’t feel worthy of my current goal, the Nikon D90.
