For example, when renaming a file, if the stack is sorted by name, it doesn't re-arrange by the new naming. Also when customizing icons within a folder, (more...)
Problem: The searchbox in the finder window is somehow broken. The fact that everytime you enter a search term the whole computer is searched is simply not understandable (from my point of view).
Solution: I (partly) like the way the "searchbox" in vista/win7 works. So I'have an idea how to adapt such a behaviour to Mac OS X:
If you enter text (without pressing return) into the seachbox of a finder window then the folder contents should (more...)
Problem: Most of the operations that can be done though finder can be undone afterwards, eg. renaming the fileextension. But if you open a file after doing something, the last operation cannot be undone anymore.

In my case I sometimes get ISO files (more...)
Problem: If the Finder is in listview and a sub folder is opened with the "triangle" symbol, the shortcut cmd-v doesn't paste the file in the opened/selected subfolder but in the main folder that is opened in the current finder window.
<br (more...)
Solution: If a sub folder in listview is "opened" (triangle top is on the bottom) and the folder or a file in the folder is selected, then a cmd-v should paste the file into this folder, and not in the folder that is currently shown in the finder window.
Problem: I have a Macbook Pro and sometimes I connect an external monitor and use it as the main screen. The internal screen is disabled (booting with closed lid). When opening the lid, the internal screen stays black, but after unplugging the external screen, (more...)
Solution: Pressing F7 on Macbook Pro should not only rotate the display mode but include the autodetection to check if the second screen is still there.
Problem: There is only one single Dock layout for all Spaces so that a Space dedicated to image manipulation for instance has all the unnecessary quick access icons at hand and is missing the graphics software related starters instead because they would otherwise (more...)
Solution: - Offer an option to set up a Space specific Dock for each Space. It is only overlapping the standard which can still be accessed through a "switch Dock button".
Problem: My Finder stops renaming files and folders as they are being renamed, resulting in unnamed or partially named files and folders. This occurs whether edit mode was entered by clicking the file/folder name, or by hitting "enter".
Solution: The only dependable workaround I've found is to use Get Info to change individual file and folder names. That's too clunky.
Problem: Renaming many files in finder is very tedious. Here are two propositions for improving the rename functionality.
Solution: It would be cool to have a bulk rename mode. I can think of this two sub modes:
1. If more files are selected and the rename mode is activated, only the first file should be in rename mode. After pressing return to commit the change, the next file (more...)
Severity: Low
Problem: If you are using the keyboard to select files shift+arrow keys) you can't unselect files via keyboard, eg. using shift-down selects the orginal file + the file "below", but shift-up, doesn't unselect that last selected file.
<br (more...)
Solution: Either use the "select-only" mode (addition model of selection?), which allows no unselection (Finder keyboard selection mode) or use allow unselection, both with mouse and keyboard (fixed-point-selection model?, like in konquerero or dolphin) (more...)
Problem: I believe there should be an easy way of deleting entries of any kind in iCal (e.g., calendar events or To Dos. I can't think of any reason why this capability should not be present for other types of entries, but perhaps there is one.) If an event (more...)
Solution: (1) Proposed solution: I think Apple should include a DELETE button or function within iCal.
(2) Alternatively (my 2nd choice) you could use the DELETE key on the keyboard to accomplish this function.

Problem: If you click on a file in an inactive Finder window then the file gets selected. A click on a toolbar icon doesn't do anything. iCal reacts the same way. But Safari and Mail have no click-through. If Mail is inactive, you can't select a different (more...)
Problem: Like many, I use a windows quite often as well as mac, so it is really annoying to press enter on a file or folder to have mac's finder start changing the folder or filename.
Problem: If you want to quickly download many files, you have only two choices:
* Either download them all simultaniously
* Or use a download manager tool

I hate downloading simultaniously, because it slows down all downloads and the (more...)
Solution: Let the user set the maximum number of simultanouse download jobs. Safari then adds all downloads but starts them only up to tha number. All other downloads are "paused". If one download is finished, Safari starts the next "paused" (more...)
Problem: If there is a safari window with an active search (searchbar visible + dimmed website background + highlighted text), then the alt-tab doesn't switch to the space, where the Safari window is.
Problem: Safari download window is a separate little window on the desktop. Imho this behaviour should be more consistent with the whole UI.

Problem: Backing up: Time Machine takes way too much time to back up files as small as 20MB and while the backup process is running it uses quite much CPU usage so if the user runs an app/game it slows down quite significantly. The beginning and ending of backups (more...)
Solution: Improve backup/restore Performance. Don't just back up files every hour - back them up "live" as they change. Run the backup process with lower HDD/CPU priority so it doesn't slow down the running system/apps/games.
Severity: Medium
Impact: Low
Status: Not fixed
