With moving in, starting a new job, and adjusting to many living changes, it’s hard to find the time/motivation/inspiration to blog. I’m so sorry! I’d probably be boring you with stupid things if I forced myself to blog every day, anyway. I’ve had the past few days off and this afternoon was terribly gross and rainy so I stayed in and forced myself to make this mix. Even though I haven’t blogged, I’ve been collecting interesting things to share with you guys, so don’t worry, there’s tons to come!
I’m still going strong with my Project 365, which has become more of my daily blog in photos. I’m actually really surprised that I’ve stuck with it for this long–even though I still have 300 days to go, haha.

I got this amazing Marc by Marc Jacobs ring in the mail yesterday! It was only $30 bucks on Ruelala.com, which is this amazing private designer boutique website. Every day they open up a new designer’s boutique and sell everything at amazing sale prices. Each boutique is only open for a couple days and there’s limited quantities of each item, so it’s like a online race to buy before someone else grabs them! Literally five minutes after I ordered this ring, it was sold out! I felt like I had won the lottery. They feature any and every designer–you can even request a designer you’d like to see! There’s shoes, accessories, men and women’s apparel, and even designer home products! Now that I’m living in NYC again, it’s completely surrounded me. From a small, three-letter tag on the subway to a whole commissioned wall; it’s become a part of my daily life. A couple weeks ago, I met with Allen AKA to discuss a future project, and he gave me a goodie bag full of AKA surprises! Aside from all the amazing art, stickers, and posters, he suggested I read “Million Dollar Vandal,” one of his many productions. So, now that I’ve settled into my apartment, I’ve finally had the chance to sit down and read it.

This story was that of Desa MTA and how he eventually became the symbol of New York’s war on graffiti in the 90’s. His story is incredible and I couldn’t believe I could actually recognize his tag from around town. Reading about the history of graffiti in NYC really opened my eyes to a whole world I never knew about, even though it’s everywhere I go. There’s tons of amazing photos of Desa in action and even newspaper clippings about his mischievous acts around the city which stirred up so much attention! This book is definitely something I think anyone into graffiti and street culture/art should have in their collection.

I had the most wonderful time shooting this little cutie’s feet all evening yesterday! Finally, tons of shoes for you ladies. Oh, and don’t worry boys, I haven’t forgotten about you! I just need to find the perfect male model for these pieces and they’ll be up, pinky promise. Phew, I’m sick of looking at my computer screen. I also added a couple other items that are ending in a couple days..check ‘em out!

I’ve been asking Nicole to take me to a vegan meal for ages, as I’ve never even tried tofu before, but today was not for that. Today, I went crazy and tried seitan! When I walked into Candle Cafe, I spotted someone eating their seitan burger and it looked fabulous! Erica recommended it so I decided to indulge.

I incredibly was surprised at how delicious it was! The coleslaw was fantastic and I usually can’t stand coleslaw. Nomnomnom!

Nicole got a butternut squash soup and a roasted pear salad, Erica had the paradise casserole:

And for the grand finale, we all shared three DELICIOUS desserts. Vanilla cheesecake, berry pie, and carrot cake:

All in all, I had a great first vegan meal and really can’t wait to try more vegan treats! I couldn’t help but stare at everyone else’s food in the restaurant and everything looked so, so good. I can’t deny that I will forever love meat but I don’t mind skipping it for a meal!  I’m trying to open up to a lot more new foods, maybe seafood will be next…maybe.

Phew! I’m finally starting to settle into my new apartment here in Brooklyn. The shop is back in action so check it out and tell your friends about it! After thinking about this for the past..um, well..forever, I’ve finally decided to start my 365 day project. One photo for each day of the next year. I’m excited, I think it’s a great way to record the year, keep memories and document change. And hey, what better time to begin than now? I’m starting up my life in a new place, and will definitely be experiencing some great things throughout the year.
Why don’t you give it a shot? It’s an awesome way to force creativity into your daily life and document days that would normally just pass you by. Not to mention the excitement of looking through each day of the year in photos after you’re done.
