guys, I am using trendnet TEW-432BRP wireless router. I have connected my PC, Laptop (Wireless) and game console with this. And I am using Network Magic software for this which came with it. Today I saw that red "X" mark on network magic symbol in my taskbar. When I look at network map, it showing me red X between Internet and router. But I can use Internet on my pc and laptop. I don’t know why but I am still using internet with red X on network magic icon. If I want to fix this problem, i have to buy newwork magic pro.
Can someone help me please?

Very new to AS3. I built an application using AS2 within Flash MX in 2003. Would like to convert it to AS3 using Flex.

I am receiving 2 main errors: semicolon placement and " the public attribute can only be used inside a package"

Here are a few sets of code:

I’m learning AS3. On stage, I have a movie clip mc_1 that responds to keyboarding. There are four movie clips rectangle_mc .. rectangle_mc3 on each side of stage.

PROBLEM:

mc_1 is moved up, down, right, and left with arrow keys. It detects rectangles when hit, but it does not stop when hitting rectangles. How can I make mc_1 stop when hitting a rectangle?

Hi everybody. I’m coding a game and have run into a weird issue. addChild fails. RANDOMLY.

I keep creating enemies and objects in a rather fast loop, calling addChild(object). Each time I call addChild I increase a variable X.

After 5 minutes:

stage.numChildren = 50
X = 60

I must also specify that I am sometimes adding objects at a rate of 5/second. I’m also removing them, of course, otherwise the FlashPlayer would freeze. When I am removing objects, I, of course, decrease X. Still, things get out of sync and I cannot understand why this happens. Also worth mentioning is that I never have more than 200 objects on the stage. I always remove them and add them in a single place so I got everything very "centralized" so to speak.

What’s even weirder is that apparently AS skips some instructions when it’s too loaded. I have a request for an animation to go and play at a certain frame, and it doesn’t. I’m very puzzled by this behavior.

I’ve just recently joined this happy band! I’m a mom of four living in central FL. I’ve written my entire life (isn’t that what we all say?), although for the past fifteen years or so I’ve confined it mostly to parenting info/advice and homeschooling articles and curriculum.

Last year I wrote my first novel, and I am more than halfway through the second book in a proposed series of four. Getting through the second has greater challenges, especially since I’m shopping my first book for agents while writing book 2.

I also head up a writing and critique group online, which is enormously satisfying.

Looking forward to meeting even more writers here!

hi i got a problem I make a bt stick like in the video tut. I use the 5th menu option to edit the system and so on. But wehen i use the default option to boot then no change is ther. Is ther a way to use the changed backtrack but all aditional changes get lost until i boot the 5th option in grub to add more changes?

I need a mode were i can do changes and one were i use a changed system but changes in this mode should be forget after shutdown.

Hey there,

I used to surf this forum religiously back when I was younger, but of course, the older you get, the less disposable time you seem to get. I just took my first spy shot last weekend. I’ve gotta say, I was pretty darn excited.

I found this car at a service station off of the 401 near Brockville, Ontario. I did a little reasearch and found out this is going to be the new 2011 Suzuki Kazashi, a midsize sedan about the size of an accord or altima. If Anko gets wacked, he’ll blame the shinobi from another village….whichever village he feels like going to war with. His root members might not be as strong as Kakashi but 4 or 6 of ‘em can probably get the job done and keep it moving as if nothing happened at all.

On B435 are rules for radiation poisoning. You (possibly) know the ones, the ones with this chart.

Accumulated Dose HT Effects
1-10 rads +0 //A/B
11-20 rads +0 /A/B/C
21-40 rads +0 A/B/C/D
41-80 rads -1 A/B/C/D
81-160 rads -3 A/B/C/D
161-800 rads -4 A/B/C/D
800-4,000 rads -5 C/D/E/E
Over 4,000 rads -5 D/E/E/E

Whenever your character accumulates even a single rad, you roll HT and note if it is a critical success, simple success, simple failure or critical failure which determines what column of effects take place. ‘A’ is the least harmful (aside from ‘-’ being nothing) and it progresses through ‘E’ which is a hideous death in mere hours.

Technomancer and Infinite Worlds both have special charts for exposure to necromantically active waste and exposure to the Current between worlds. The first can turn you into a hideous undead before you die and the second does all sorts of weird ultraterrestrial/temporal/fate based things to you while you recover (an ‘E’ result makes you roll aging hourly right away instead of yearly when you get old).

Now, lets say we were playing something like GURPS L5R which has Shadowlands Taint roughly converted to D20 here.

Maybe we say that simply wandering around an average part of the Shadowlands accumulates taint at about a rad an hour. It is a bad place to be wandering around in and if you aren’t carrying jade on your person you will succumb to the corrupting effects pretty in mere days. Eating or drinking something with a source in the Shadowlands increases the hourly dose. Certain other environments and some supernatural effects might be more dangerous.

The results for your homebrew might start out like this before being fleshed out.

A- Shadowlands sickness. Your body recoils at the corrupting effects of Fu Leng’s power. You suffer a fever and mild hallucinations while you shake off your exposure to pure evil (Phantom Voices starting at the -5 level). Every day roll HT at the same modifier as the Taint chart demands. Success means that one point is removed from the disadvantage chosen. When the points are gone, the fever is broken. A critical failure on this roll adds five points to the disadvantage instead.

B- A Mild Taint effect permanently appears (see the chart in the SRD that I’m not going to repost). The Taint is noticable, but not obviously supernatural. It can be hidden as a simple disease, rude behavior or hidden with cosmetics.

C- A Moderate Taint effect permanently appears. There is obviously something wrong with this character. Suspicions of a supernatural cause are now common and the effort of hiding the afflictions is more difficult.

D- A Severe Taint effect permanently appears. The character can be identified as unclean by any one of the ranged senses or by even casual observation. There can be no doubt as to the source of the malady and supernatural effects such as green light shining softly from a gaping eye socket or the mouth is not out of the question.

E- At this point the character is doomed. Either the terrible blights on his body are more than can be endured or he becomes a maddened creature of evil and flees to the Shadowlands, leaving death and horror in his wake.

I’ve been flashing a fair few ROMs in the past week or so, and I’ve come to the realisation that I like two ROMs more than any others: Josh’s M2DLite, and CRC’s 13.4 release.

Frustratingly, there’s just a couple of things wrong with each release that leave me stuck and unable to choose between them… I have a couple of recurring problems with Manila 2D (it sometimes crashes out when I try to load an email which is accessed through the Seven.com system, and I can’t change the clock to be a digital clock instead of analogue hands). There’s also some remaining small problems with memory usage, plus for some reason my install of M2DLite stopped allowing me to install new CABs ("installation unsuccessful").

By contrast, CRC’s 13.4 release is almost perfect - the stock, basic WM Today screen, with a lovely plain black theme. It has Device Update and a load of nice extras. However, it doesn’t ship with the option to install and run M2D (the more I used it, the more I slowly came to like it).

As a result, I feel like I’m 90% close to finding the perfect ROM. I hate all the ROMs with gaudy themes or colour presets, but frustratingly some of those ROMs look quite appealing, aside from those annoying customisations. I’m really at a loss as to which ROM is ideal for the person who prefers the minimalist, discreet look, but wants all the regular stuff like 3G dialer, HSDPA, Internet Sharing and MMS to work without a hitch.

What ROM have you guys settled on? Did you try loads, but then find one which you think is perfect (maybe after a little bit of customisation)? I’d love to hear your thoughts. WM6, WM6.1 and WM6.5 ROMs are all eligibile.

I understand that Japanese writers love to have language puns, and this is a bit of a nightmare for translators. Nevertheless, that was a horrible translation.

With what Mizukage said, it was actually about marriage being delayed. You know writers have to be sterotypical, perhaps Kishi is doing it on purpose, or he’s just playing into some expectation about woman being worried about not getting married once they reach a certain age.

Obviously, Fifth Hokage didnt have to worry about this, because she’s old as hell, she’s passed that bullshit phase if she ever was in it.

Basically, Ao said something about teens not having guts, which had the same pronounciation as marriage or something. This reminded Mizukage about marriage, which pissed her off.

It’s hard to imagine, someone of her skill and position, she must’ve worked her ass off to get to where she was, therefore she cant worry about getting married or some shit like that. Also, because she’s also holding a high office, (not saying this is right or cool) any guy that she’s interested in or is interested in her may be extremely intimidated.

She’s not a feminist or anything like that, not in that sense of when someone think of feminists. If anything, she’s the opposite, because even she, someone of extremely high skill and power, is playing into this sterotype set for woman all over the real world.

A few months ago I read a quote by one of the most, uh, talked-about authors on this board. She said: "I don’t think I’m a writer; I think I’m a storyteller."

This quote came back to me last night as I was working on a scene-by-scene outline of my current WIP - not really an outline (I’m nearly done my first draft), but a wall of post-it notes, one for each scene, each one riddled with notes and arrows and plot points and things I need to add. I stood back from this wall of color, and it occurred to me that I hadn’t written anything in a while… that the story alone had evolved and deepened and gotten better while stuck to a wall in scribbled form. It was a world of intersecting twists and character revelations and dramatic arcs tied not to its seriously awful first draft, but my own mind.

The writing will come soon, as in tomorrow morning. But last night I didn’t feel like a writer in the novel-producing sense. I felt my characters and my plot and all those other components as things suspended in front of me and I felt like a weaver, a storyteller. Writing suddenly felt like a backdrop, some to get over-with compared to the real deal: the story.
(Not that writing quality isn’t important. I’m not really thinking of the good plot vs. good writing argument, somehow.)

Aaanyway, if all that made any sense at all, do you think there’s a difference between these two terms? Maybe not, and of course it depends on your definition. Can you be one or the other (assuming you’re actually writing a novel, not vocalizing around the campfire)? Is one a better version of the other?

This is a roleplay inspired from the wonderous tales of America’s Wild West. It was the year 1875. The country was alive with desire for the gold that was being mined in the west country. Thousands of men flocked to the cowboy state to find their fortune, spending countless hours mining for gold dust and gems. These states being over populated by men, they began to realise that they desired much more than gold and jewels. As such they decided to bring in prostitution to the city and they imported woman from all around to satisfy their hungry needs. And so No-Named-City Became a town of drunk, whore chasing miners.

Now, No-Named-City was a typical cowboy town. Its centre had a Large Saloon called the Noir. Here men drank till they could not stand, gamble till they were poor and sleep with one of the many prostitutes or Noir girls as they were called. Next door their was the Canteen. An eatery ran by the respected Mrs Hadley, sister of Rex Hadley the owner of the saloon. Many hardware stores and fabric boutiques littered the the street but suffice it say the Noir saloon was the centre of it all. Behind the small town were the large mining caves and hills were a large river ran through them and down through the valley.

But as with all western towns, they suffered at the hands of the rogue riders. Bandits that stole into the town, creating havoc and chaos for the drunks. Stealing the gold they mined, the liquor they loved and the women they chased. And so, No-Named-City decided to bring in the law, in the hopes that they would straighten out the bandits. But the law couldnt break down the Bandit’s leader whom they call Hy-Gun, said to have killled 4 men with one bullet. No way thats impossible the townfolk think. Hy-Gun was in charge of all the crime in No-Named-City, and plan to take the town over completly.

Trying to keep the town in order the marshals introduced prisons and hanging, in the hopes that it would tame down the Bandits and the drunks. But not all laws are followed rigidly.

i then used and old sdcard from my sidekick and i got on the dudes build

i tried to use apps2sd on the stock 1gb card which i previously already had and it said i didnt have a partition on it which i did previously so it set it up and rebooted into a bootloop

is this a bad sd card?

I have 2 hard drives on my machine, one with BT4 and the other was empty, until recently decided to put windows on it, so, I unplugged the first hard drive (the one with BT4 on it) and set the empty drive as the first HDD, after successfully installing and booting windows on the empty drive, I plugged in the BT4 HDD (as the first HDD now) and got the error ‘Error Loading Operating System’.
I tried booting into an ubuntu live CD (just one I had on hand) and can see all the files on the filesystem for backtrack (Except the files in root?)

I’m not sure what to do? Any advice?

Hello there I need help in trying to get SATA1 disks being seen as SATA2 by a LSI RAID card, Here are the details….

If any of you could help me or suggest any advice then i would be very much grateful…

I have a small problem thats giving me a big headache.

I have an LSI 8208ELS x4 PCIexpress controller card that im currently happily running 4 WD Caviar blue WD6400AAKS SATA2 HDD’s in RAID0 connected to an Asus P5Q deluxe.

However, this RAID card does not detect any SATA1 hard disks that i connect to it. Its not a fault or hardware problem as the LSI logic website/manual states that only SAS and SATA2 HDD’s are supported.

Problem is that I have 2 x 4GB I-RAM disks and 4 WD 74GB Raptor HDD’s that i would very much like to get set up on the LSI controller. The SIL3114 4 port PCI controller card that i am currently using for the Raptors is basically crap…. here are benches i recorded using HDtach from about 3 months ago with 2 WD6400AAKS’s and from today, the 4 raptors on the Silicon image SIL3114 card…

According to HDtach the 2 WD Blue WD6400AAKS Caviars (2 stripe RAID0):
Random access time : 12.4ms
Averarge read : 172.4MB/s
Burst speed : 380.8MB/s

and WD Raptors, 16MB cache, 74GB (4 stripe RAID0):
Random access time : 8.6ms
Averarge read : 97.6MB/s
Burst speed : 110.3MB/s

As you can see, very disapointing, especially when you consider 2×7200rpm drives outperforming 4×10.000 rpm monsters. And to make things worse Im getting even better results now with the card with 4 WD6400AAKS’s rather than the 2.

Is there any way of getting SATA1 drives to work with this controller? The LSI website and software does nothing. Am just wondering if there is anyway to ‘trick’ the controller card into seeing a SATA1 device or somehow ‘disguising’ a SATA1 device as SATA2??….

Any help would be appreciated. THANKS ALL!!!!

PS… The motherboard can be ruled out as the problem as i was previously running as Asus Maximus Formula SE X38 and was getting the same results.

I wasn’t sure if this belonged in the video game section or the anime section, but I thought since I’m looking for anime recommendations it’s better off here.

In any case, what are some good video game to anime adaptations? Things that started off as video games then became anime. Not so much the visual novel/eroge-type stuff, but more like the true video game adaptations like Street Fighter and Tekken. For the most part, I find a lot of these types of crossovers to be not so good — maybe it’s that the characters and situations from video games just don’t work so well in an anime OVA or episodic form? Like the stories and character backgrounds just aren’t well-formed enough?

Well, if there ARE any really good video game -> anime works out there, I’d love to hear about them!

Some things I wish would happen:

Advance Wars (I think this would make for a pretty good one)

Katamari Damacy (this could be really bizarre fun — probably best suited to a short OVA-type thing)

Which comics did you love despite them being cancelled or being huge commercial bombs?

I was a big fan of The Thing, which Dan Slott wrote a few years back and although it had a cult following it sold very badly and was cancelled after only eight issues.

Hard Time was another title which suffered because it was part of the unpopular DC Focus line and had to be relaunched which destroyed the momentum of the title and led to a scrambled ending which was a let down for such a great story.

The Witching was probably most famous for the amazing Tara McPherson covers which featured on every issue but it was a very stylish Vertigo title which should have had more time to develop.

I almost forgot The Monolith, which had sales which were like a lead parachute.

The story and art were fantastic and it was one of DC’s best unsung titles and should never have been dropped after a dozen issues. The title should have been kept going as I’m sure it would have sold better as trades if the story had developed properly.

So I decided to get a brand new macbook pro 13″ and I’m lovin it so far.

Then one day I plug in my 1tb hdd and come to find out Macs can’t write to NTFS hard drives.

What….the….heck, so now I have to wait 10hrs again to reformat my 1TB to FAT32, oh wait fat32 is limited to 2GB files. Great.

Is there a reason why MACs can’t right to NTFS drives? This is a big let down.

LaCie d2 Hard Disk - problems

Hey, there, anybody who might have a suggestion. I upgraded a while back to Leopard. I had a LaCie d2 drive that worked just fine on my iMac. Today I tried to get it to mount and it won’t even show up on the desktop.

However, I plugged the firewire into my laptop (that is still running Tiger) and it mounts fine, just like before.

The problem is that I need it to work on my iMac (Leopard) as that’s the computer that has my Final Cut pro on it and the LaCie disk is where I’m keeping all my media…

Ideas? SHould I simply go to the LaCie disk and install whatever Silverlining Softward or SilverKeeper software?

Freezes of unknown cause?

I have experienced occasional system freezes lately while using FS9. The screen will freeze, mouse disappears and the only way out is a hard shutdown of the system. The screen will show some "anomalies":

Notice the pattern of small areas…I’ve circled a few. The last time this happened I had the EVGA Precision OSD running (which doesn’t show up on the above screenie) and it showed a GPU temp of 59 (degrees C) at the freeze.

If I recall correctly, most of these occur while the game is paused and I’m off getting a beer or some other thing :). But I’m not 100% on that point.

I have several questions for you:
1. Is there a temperature at which the BFG GTX260 will "stop responding"?
2. Is there some way to go back and determine what caused the lock-up…when the system freezes hard, as it is doing?
3. I’m using the EVGA Precision tool to OC and set fan speed on the GTX260:

Core clock: 720 MHz
Shader clock: 1480 MHz
Memory clock: 1220 MHz
Fan speed: 100%

4. And, of course, any other ideas you may have.

Im after a HD capable netbook (ie capable of playing 720p (preferably 1080p) media files.) I will be using the netbook for traveling around and as a back up for when im at work (I work offshore so replacing my laptop is pretty much impossible so i want to have a backup to play my media files, some of which are HD)
I’d prefer one that has a 10″ screen over a 12″, 12″ seems to be getting a bit big for a netbook IMO.
As far as hard drives go im not bothered really, SSD would be nice for speed and battery life but I’d rather save money and just get one with a normal hard drive.
For RAM the more the better, id like one that can be upgraded since i know that most systems only come with 1gb but again it isnt vital.
I need all the usual things like wireless and wired LAN. I also require bluetooth. An added bonus would also if it had GPS as well.

As far as screen res goes it doesnt really bother me, but higher is always better.

The only netbooks that I have heard about that I know should be able to play HD are the Lenovo S12 with ion and the Samsung N510 (i think) with ion (neither of which is released yet.) also I feel the the N510 is a bit on the expensive side for a netbook, are there any other options apart from those?

I should also mention that I will be buying in the US, i cant buy online because I wont be staying anywhere long enough to get it shipped so i need to buy it in real shop, could anyone recommend me a shop in LA where i could buy one as well?
Im looking at buying one some time in the next 4 weeks, when ever i get my holiday.

(Also i wont touch an Acer)

fresh reboot, ran 3dmark, stock system i’ve installed some games and removed norton got 2111 in 3dmark06

what are some drivers/tweaks I can do to increase this score?

I know this box is able to get much higher than that.

(i was also not using turbo or gaming mode im waiting till after and then im gonna run all three to compare, also plan on OCing the video card and comparing that to gaming mode..anyone know exactly what all the modes do?)

3gs stereo speakers

So I got my 3gs today, but realised that only one of the two speakers on the bottom of the phone actually works.

Anyone else had this, do you need to activate stereo speaker playback or something? Or I guess its back to the store to get another…

Phenom II vs. Core i7.

For example there was a Phenom II at 3GHz and say a i7 at 3GHz (both default for example), which would be better? i7 has more L2 cache but that’s all? It would make more sense for more people to buy PII over i7 though. I may go AMD when they release the 6 cores… i7 build is too pricey. Lower cache a little but who cares. Is L2 cache really that important?

Inspiron 1545 slow wireless

Hey all,
Three days ago I received my Inspiron 1545 with 64-bit Vista and the Dell 1397 WLAN card and right out of the box the Internet speed is dreadfully slow. Connected wirelessly to my Netgear WGR614 router I can only muster about 1mbps versus 5mbps from my XP Inspiron 6000. A persistent ping to yahoo.com shows variable roundtrip times (between 26ms and 200ms) including the occasional timeout. Other devices on my network aren’t having any issues. I’ve tried the autotuning fix amongst a host of others I’ve found searching for this issue with no luck. Any thoughts? I’m close to sending it back!

I have noticed that express slot of my laptop is not lock and always slip off when laptop is leaned. Are there anyway to fix it myself? I’m on working and don’t want to send it to fix.
