Sourdough Bread

The starter was usually kept in a sealed crock and the cooks would sleep with it if there was danger of freezing.
My late brother in law Bill Nannini always asked me to make several loaves of this bread for horse camping trips because it kept so well on the trail.
This is a really old recipe and you need to start the day before you plan on baking bread. A really active starter can climb out of the bowl so always make sure to use a big bowl.

These are a very tender muffin, great for a snack or breakfast. The apples and raisins provide almost one serving of fruit. I have to hide these from my daughter Erica! But I always make a double batch.

With sugar and lemon juice for breakfast as Lee stated. Warm canned cherry pie filling, add a squirt of fresh lemon juice and spoon over warm crepes for a delicious dessert. Add a dash of liquer to the batter, such as ameretto,
I don't think you can do crepes wrong, just take care with the actual crepe as they are tender.

I'm off to make up some batter so I can take pictures!

As there were loads of Australin emloyees/guests at the ski resort we were staying at, Perogies were really popular, and sold frozen in the supermarket. I wanted to try them back in England, so got a Canadian friend to email me her recipe. I made a few alterations, and this is what I came up with.
