I love Earth Song (sung by Michael Jackson) for few good reasons. One, it has an explicit environmental & humanity theme; second, it is sung with such a full force emotion that I was totally touched the first time I heard it (almost cried); and third, the music video is impactful, with even better relevance as they shoot it in real locations where deforestation, war and poaching actually happened.

Note that one hour of switching off lights is quite symbolic in nature, but the true positive impact to the planet comes when we are all understand the threat of climate change AND committed to do something concrete about it for long term.

Climate change is just one of the many problems our planet Earth is facing no thanks to our species. Overpopulation, overhunting, overfishing, overfarming, deforestation, pollution, etc are very serious problems. We MUST deal with all these problems, as there are no shortcuts. If the planet dies, we die. There are no spare Planet Earth we can shift to. Remember this fact.

There are plenty of materials online to find out more about all this, I will always recommend Wikipedia to start. For concrete actions, WWF provides a simple list of things you can do as a start. (Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) Do support our local environment-related NGOs (I am a proud member) and WWF for example. Think globally, act locally.
