Sariah loves anything princess. It all started when she watched the movie Princess: A Modern Fairytale which was one of the most boring movies I’ve seen but Sariah loved it.

On Friday BYU had their annual outdoor movie event and this year they showed Enchanted. An hour before we left for the event I told Sariah that we were going to watch a princess movie outside on a big screen. She excitedly said “I got to wear a princess dress!” She opened her closet and pointed to her frilly pink dress.

Soon after we found a spot on the grass and laid our sheet down Sariah spotted “a real” princess. She was so excited and star struck when she went up to meet the ‘princess’. It was so cute! And she loved the movie as well. We will definitely need to take her to Disney World before she outgrows this phase so she can see the Disney princesses and the princess castle. I should look into how much Orlando vacations cost.

Rebekah however could not have cared less about the movie she practiced her tumbles and jumped off my lap and back all night.

My twin sister told Sariah over the phone on Saturday that she was going to give her a princess crown when she comes to visit this week. This morning at the grocery store Sariah saw a little girl with a tiara on her head and excitedly said “Auntie’s getting me a princess crown!”.

The fun thing is that the meaning of Sariah is ‘Princess of the Lord’.

I was really bad about posting my grocery deals last week so instead of catching up I am just going to start over. We had some money left over in our $150 budget from last month so before the grocery trip today we had $165.84 left in the budget!!!

First I went to Albertson’s this morning. They have a sale where if you buy 10 items from their ‘Epic Savings” sale you get $5 off.

I bought 6 boxes of Kraft Macaroni and Cheese, 2 18oz bottles of Kraft dressing, 2 8oz blocks of Tillamook cheese.

Total I paid: $3.55 plus I received a $2 off coupon to use within 2 weeks!

Next I went to Buy Lows. If you want to be able to actually move around the store on Wednesdays go early in the morning! Also if you use WIC and you live in Utah County use your new fruits and vegetable vouchers at this store, you can get a lot for $6!

I bought 2 lbs apples, 2 lbs purple grapes, 1 cantaloupe, 3 lbs peaches (these are local utah peaches and so good!), 1 lb Roma tomatoes, 4 lbs ground beef, 2 lbs Broccoli, 1 bunch green onions, 4 green bell peppers, 0.5 lbs jalapeno peppers, 1 bunch of cilantro (yes, I am making salsa), 1.5 lbs plums and 1 tub of margarine.

Monday - Soup (chicken, carrots, onions, celery and black beans with spices)

Tuesday - Spaghetti with tossed green salad.

Wednesday - Ranch Style Hash it is JJ’s favourite dish that his mom made. It is a one dish rice meal, I’ll put the recipe up one of these days.

Thursday - Broccoli and Chicken cassarole with mashed potatoes and a tossed green salad.

Friday - Homemade pizza

Saturday - Quesadillas and a salad

Sunday - JJ is making Chili

I got my camera back so now I can post some pictures!

Here are Sariah and Bekah enjoying their Canada Day dinner and Bekah waving her flag.

Here we are enjoying fireworks with JJ’s brother and sister-in-law. Sariah and Rebekah loved the fireworks. They were good but after going to the Symphony of Fire in Vancouver, BC all of the other firework shows I’ve seen just don’t seem that exciting.

The internet has opened up a whole new world of educational tools and ways of communicating with friends and family all over the world. It doesn’t take long until useful technology is used in ways that can cause harm to our families and the internet is no exception. Even if you don’t go looking for objectionable material it comes up, recently my husband and I were watching historical videos on youtube and accidentally stumbled on a video with content that was objectionable. Now we have a three year old who can navigate around the internet on her own playing educational games and watching videos. Sometimes when she’s on the computer I’m doing house work and I don’t want her to stumble on a website that may show violence or pornography. Even if you shut a pornographic site down as soon as it comes up those websites can often leave serious viruses on your computer.

Two days ago I received Safe Eyes™, a parental control software from internetsafety.com. The software was very quick to install and you can set up different levels of control for each family member. The product is $49.95 a year. For me it is well worth the price. My favourite feature is that it blocks videos with inappropriate content from youtube, facebook, emails and anywhere else you might view videos online. You can also ban website categories and keywords.Even limit each persons internet time including your own - now that can be a useful tool for a lot of people!
