@MJ - I’d like to take credit for actually creating good ideas, but like most pharmacists, I’m better at recognizing good ideas. I’m just reiterating the original ideas of John Bogle. Allocate your assets appropriately and buy the market… at least for the retirement portion of my portfolio.

@Dave - It’s very hard to avoid the noise and I’m not always successful myself. But unless one thinks our economy is going to perish soon, buying now for the long term seems to make good sense.

You might just be REIT. It just may be time to look into real estate. If the commercial sector hasn’t already crashed, it will soon. My niece-in-law (is that a word?), a commercial realtor, was recently laid-off from her job. She’s been doing it a long time and is very good at it. But, if nobody’s buying or leasing, whaddya going to do?

However, I have persevered and kept my chips in the pot. Fortunately, I decided to stop buying a couple months ago, so if there is a dip, I will mainly just be back at my entry point.

For the coming time ahead, I’m considering buying into some REIT ETF’s to get some of my portfolio into real estate. I suppose I should probably evaluate the housing market indicators, and gauge the probability of a commercial real estate market crash?

I wish that I had some extra to invest there are some stocks ready to really beat the market soon, but even better is probably what you have always preached is total market style funds which are historically cheap and as the market recovers, so will these funds and etfs.

Luckily, the savings rate in the US seems to be on the rise, that’s good news right?
