I believe that Kegel and Brunswick are both really the same. I was told while I was at Kegel that the Kegel Machines are actually outsourced to Brunswick to make now so they should work on either.

I asked about it because during the King of Bowling event I thought it was funny that Kegel was running a Brunswick machine down the lanes to do the oiling between sets.<br/>

 Went to a fairly new brunswick center in Watagua TX and the lanes where filthy, my ball's where black and nasty after 3 games when the smoke got too thick to see the pins. And the oil was tracked all the way past the head pin, you could see the glare of the lanes reflection all the way down and my momentum swing acted like my old black beauty, no hook at all.<br/>

 Got a e-mail from a Lane Masters rep the other day, he told me the Black Diamond would be the better choice on extremely heavy oil patterns. He also said it's useless on the house shot, you'll never encounter enough oil for such a strong ball.<br/>
Just thinking out loud, but shortening your span that much and still having 3/8ths reverse seems like a lot of reverse.
I had tried a ball on my drillers shelf that was 4 5/8 x 4 5/8 with 3/8 reverse.. it felt good but seemed to come off a little too fast(thumb hole may have been too wide) .. So I tried 3/16 reverse with my 4 5/8 and 4 3/4 span and was still hanging up with a snug thumb hole. I just went back to the 3/8 cause it worked and it was within the limits on the bill taylor chart.. I know if it just guidelines but as long as it wasn't too much reverse for the span I figured I was safe.. I guess I could have tried something between the 3/8 and 3/16 but the 3/8 worked and I was (and my wallet was) tired of trying differnt spans and pitches.
I think if I went with more reverse in the fingers I could go more forward in the thumb.. but with my 0 fingers that is 1/8 forward with the lifts I think the 3/8 is necessary.<br/>

Tells my friend to look in the glove box for his &quot;bear protection.&quot; Turns out to be a .22 pistol. &quot;Not going to do much to a bear,&quot; my friend says, to which the guy replies, &quot;yeah but it's not for the bear, it's to shoot my companion in the foot.&quot;<br/>

after working the release, I believe your balance issue might come from fast feet. I think slowing your feet down might allow your body time to shift and balance out a little better at the line. Just a thought.<br/>

 Adam,
 I think another thing that could help the rushing to the line that was brought up earlier would be not only scooting forward some on the approach to get you to take smaller steps, but also lower the ball in your setup. Your ball is at your chin, or shoulder height, I think it might be more controlled if you brought it down to lets say your belly button. Keep the ball at a lower pace in the swing and it won't force you to run quite so much.

Otherwise I think you are fine as far as just getting back into the swing of things. Just a quick observation.<br/>

 I agree, ask the secretary. They are there to help you out if you have any questions. I would definitely use the vacancy score as early as possible however because you are still getting handicap and its without giving up 10 pins a game.

Remember your team average is going to change, meaning your handicap on a weekly basis will change. If you use your &quot;teammates&quot; average minus 10 pins you are giving away pins for free, its better to get that consistant vacancy score in there.<br/>

I'm saying this because of one of your earlier post explaining that your wrist &quot;pop&quot;

That's exactly what I was going to post. I think a lot of people think they only hold on to the ball a &quot;little&quot;, when in fact they're squeezing the ball pretty good. A &quot;little&quot; to me is just enough to hold an egg between your fingers and thumb. Most people would crush the egg with the amount of pressure they use to hang on to a bowling ball.<br/>

I would like to un-say this, since I am physically unable to c0ck my wrist at this time, and restate it as:

&quot;If your wrist remains cupped thru the release, it will affect the rotation. Instead, if you come around the ball, you must uncup the hand as you rotate, in order to have a good combination of rotation and tilt.&quot;

The intent of my advice remains the same, since in your video I see you cupping, not c0cking, and I still agree with Cgeorg...

The way I think of it is - at the start of the release, you're holding a small turkey on top of your bowling hand. At the end f your release, you're shaking hands with the Governor. In between, you hand is transitioning between the two positions and the ball is ripping off the hand as you do so.<br/>

He's probably being generous. If you squeeze and someone has told you that, then you probably squeeze more then you should. I disagree with Jim on the improperly fit ball and squeezing. I believe that once you learn to squeeze the ball you will continue doing so even with a properly fit ball. In fact squeezers insist on opening the thumb hole more and more, take more off here, more off there because no matter what you do to the thumb hole they still squeeze out of habit. Until you make a conscious effort to not do so. Simply having a properly fit ball doesn't automatically stop it. Mind you it helps, but once you get that comfort feeling of squeezing its really tough to stop. Unless your span is over 4 3/4 you probably don't need reverse pitch in your thumb. If your span is shorter then say....4 1/2 - 4 1/4 then you should be around zero or a bit forward depending on your thumb. Short dr<br/>

 That would be awesome. I spent the better part of a day mapping out the precise layouts, down to the location of the balance holes, of how I wanted to drill each OGRE, then calculated the ideal Pin to CG length and Top Weight for each. For two of the balls, the Silver/Blue OGRE (pearl) and Pewter/Black OGRE (particle), I requested 4.5 to 5.5 inch pins. The others are in the more &quot;normal&quot; range. If they are able to fill the order without contacting me first to suggest different specifications, I will be truly impressed.<br/>

 Yeah, it did. But with the heavy oil conditions at that house, it stood as the highest game bowled there for 3 years. There was dust on my name letters up on the board when it finally got beat.

They have since changed the oil pattern, and 300's are more numerous. My recent 299 wouldn't make the board. Now, that 10 pin was a Stoner.<br/>

 That depends on the type of tournament

handicap tournaments are open to anyone and anyone can have a chance to win unless you don't get much handicap in which case you have to bowl near perfect to keep up with handicap bowlers.

scratch tournaments are sometimes divided up into average groups like 150 and under 151 to 175 and 176 and over

For scratch competition you should be averaging over 200

For regional competition you should be averaging over 220 before deciding to commit to joining the pba<br/>
