The DDOS attack launched by communist Korea on selected American and South Korean Web sites has been going of for four days, but wasn’t reported by government agencies. Now the worst part of the attack is revealed, the companies and individuals who have not not updated anti virus software will likely switch on their PCs on Friday to find their data gone.
The virus which has been involved in attacking U.S and South Korean sites has been programmed to encrypt user data or reformat the hard disk of the PC. This new revelation is against some experts opinion that these attacks are more like protests in the street, where an angry mob might burn you in effigy and does no real harm. According to Jose Nazario a cybersecurity expert “If your motives are to register your frustration or anger, this is very commonly used throughout the world to do that.”
Now the cybersecurity experts should not take these DDOS attack as some frustrated outburst but these can bring down the already beaten economy on its knees. The data erased by these virus can cause millions in loss to small and medium scale companies already struggling with recession.
Steps to avoid data loss:

• Start Windows in safe-mode by using the boot menu accessed through the F8 key at start-up
• Set the clock to before July 10 and then reboot the PC normally and update anti-virus softwar
• Performing a complete scan to erase the virus.

The attack which started on July 4 coincided with North Korea’s missiles launch intended to defy the international community and these scenarios make North Korea the most likely suspect in these DDOS attacks.

Today on 9th July T-Mobile launched its MyTouch 3g phone, available for online pre orders the company is promising delivery by 5th of august 2009. MyTouch 3G is an attempt by T-Mobile to keep pace with its rivals as they are already ahead in the race.
MyTouch 3G is a variant of the Google Ion and HTC Magic with features like Wifi, digital music player and seamless integration with Google Apps. As people are more interested in the release date for HTC Hero and responding this query T-Mobile CTO Cole Brodman said the carrier has no plans to bring the HTC Hero to the market.
MyTouch 3G comes with improved Android operating system, very attaractive price tag of $199 and most important unlike G1 it has no keyboard. Better equipped T-Mobile is expecting MyTouch 3G to beat out its predecessor both on features and sales.
Following the footsteps of Sprint Nextel “Ready Now” Program, T-Mobile will also start “Make It Work”, where store representatives will help customers set up their MyTouch phones. Some of industry experts said that MyTouch 3G is just a G1 but now they are marketing it differently.

According to the recent survey the average age of Facebook users has risen and there is a drop in young people using the Facebook.
iStrategyLabs survey shows the drop in users of high school going students is as high as 16.5% and college going students data is worse at 21.7%. Now the age group most active on Facebook is between 35 and 54 with 28.2% of users and behind them is age group of 24 to 34 with 25.2% of Facebook users.
It is possible that the current generation of users has graduated, and is moving on up the age range. But the statistics make worrying reading for the company. The findings reflect a major evolution at Facebook, which until January was dominated by young adults. It’s also important to note that these statistics come solely from Facebook’s U.S. users, who now make up less than a third of its total membership.
Though this survey may look bad for Facebook but a population of wealthy Baby Boomers who have disposable income is much better than college and school students.

Sony Ericsson is secretly working on its first Android phone code named Rachael and is believed to be part of SE’s XPERIA series which till now includes the Windows Mobile based X1 model.
As per the leaked pictures the handset resembles the XPERIA phone wilth a 3.5 mm audio jack connector as well as a mini USB connector at the top of the phone. According to one Chinese newspaper Sony Ericsson is likely to out-source the production of its initial Android based smartphones to Taiwan’s Foxconn Electronics.

The Sony Ericsson model includes a few buttons on the front that are uncommon for an Android phone. The current HTC Android phones have a home button, back button, pick up and end call buttons.

This time Jailbreaking your iPhone 3GS is much easier and need no hacker know hows and all credit goes to our very own George Hotz famous as Geohot. The tool from Geohot is named Purplera1n and good thing about this one is that you can do entire process fast and easy without too much technical knowledge.
Geohot was the original iPhone jailbreaker which he did as a 17-year old and now debuting Purplera1n on 3rd July he has already updated this to version RC2. Changes include support for Windows 7 and 64-bit systems, enhanced payload execution, kernal patches, correction of terminal errors and more.
Requirements:

• The latest hack is currently available for Windows XP and Vista users only
• The latest iTunes must be installed
• iPhone 3GS must have 3.0 firmware

Missing:

• No Mac support but promised in future release
• Not for iPhone 3GS with firmware 3.1

Holtz cautions that purplera1n is in beta and recommends a full backup of the phone is made before running the software. The instruction on his website states “Connect your iPhone normally. Click ‘make it ra1n.’ Wait. On bootup, run Freeze, the purplera1n installer app.” This will allow iPhone 3GS users to install any application directly onto their device, including those not sanctioned by Apple, but it won’t free you from your current carrier. The ultrasn0w tool should take care of that.

The reasons to avoid iPhone 3GS are:-

1) Poor battery life: According to a popular magazine Consumer Reports the average battery life of iPhone 3GS is only seven hours and that only if you use it for making calls. The battery life depends on various factors like number and length of calls, texting, Internet surfing and watching videos. The iPhone 3GS is found to lag in battery life around one hour behind the original iPhone and this is annoying many customers who already bought the device.
Apple reduced the size of the battery in order to make iPhone 3GS smaller and lighter than the previous versions but to achieve this goal they sacrificed the battery capacity.
Apple’s decision to add video recording features does not match with the battery capacity. Buyers who bought iPhone to play games will be disappointed as gaming demand a lot of battery juice and playing a good session of game may drain the battery making them drop miss phone calls.
2) Overheating: As of June 25 Apple cautions iPhone 3GS users to operate the handsets within acceptable temperatures. The reports are coming from various part of the world about the iPhone 3GS overheating. The first report of overheating came from France where it is claimed that iPhone 3GS became so hot that white colored handset turned brown. The recommendations from Apple about the operating temperatures are:
Store iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS in a place where the temperature is between -20 and 45 degrees Celsius (-4 to 113 degrees Fahrenheit). Don’t leave the device in your car, because temperatures in parked cars can exceed this range.

    * iPhone will no longer charge
    * iPhone display will dim
    * Weaker cell signal
    * iPhone temperature warning screen appears (see bottom)

Tips To Avoid Overheating:

• Do not run too many applications at once while in sun
• If you feel its getting too hot to handle then turn it off for few minutes
• Avoid placing it in direct sun
• Return the phone to the Home screen when you’re not using it to ensure that no application is running
• Don’t leave the iPhone in a car on a hot day
• Use of certain applications like mapping and gaming for extended periods might lead to the iPhone overheating. Limit the length of these activities if possible

Skype’s application for Windows Mobile phones is available for download and this version of Skype is even better than the one for iPhone. Skype version 3.0 comes with features like file transfer as well as SMS messaging, and a single installer now supports both touchscreen and non-touchscreen devices.
Skype, owned by eBay, has offered a Windows Mobile client for its VoIP service since 2004, and started testing a Java-based version for other smartphones in April of last year. Skype version 3.0 was first released as a public beta in March, but went “gold” yesterday. Skype 3.0 for Windows Mobile runs on Windows Mobile 5, 6, and 6.1, with or without a touchscreen and requires 12MB of storage.

Firefox 3.5 has come up with lots of improvements and has also introduced some useful new features with special emphasis on privacy. Although it is not as radical as the broad architectural overhaul that was undertaken for the 3.0 release, the development effort for 3.5 has brought many important changes to the browser.
Features
User interface: By default, the browser will now display the tab bar when there is only one tab. This change will improve the discoverability of tabbed browsing and will also be welcomed by users who find it jarring when the tab bar pops into view after the addition of a second tab. Another subtle change is the inclusion of a button in the tab bar that can be used to create a new tab.
In Firefox 3.5, you can now drag tabs between windows without disrupting page state or suffering a forced refresh. The 3.5 release also adds support for snapping tabs out of the browser to create a new window. Dragged tabs are accompanied by a translucent page thumbnail that makes it easier for those of us with short attention spans to remember exactly what they are dragging.
Session Management: The 3.0 release introduced support for reopening closed tabs. The developers have expanded on that in 3.5 by adding the ability to reopen a closed window. Crash recovery is also handled better now. When the browser is restarted after a crash, the user will be presented with a session restore screen that will show them the contents of their session and allow them to select which tabs should be restored.
Speed: The browser was fitted with a new JavaScript engine called TraceMonkey that uses an innovative optimization technique to deliver significantly faster execution speed. The TraceMonkey engine makes JavaScript noticeably faster in Firefox 3.5, enabling developers to leverage client-side scripting for computationally intensive tasks.
HTML Video: The most noteworthy HTML 5 feature to arrive in Firefox 3.5 is support for the video element, an HTML tag that allows videos to be embedded in Web pages without requiring proprietary plugins. This is highly advantageous because it will make it possible for video content to be seamlessly manipulated through the Document Object Model (DOM) via JavaScript and CSS. It breaks down the barriers between video and the rest of the page, making multimedia a first-class citizen on the Web.
Privacy: Most talked about feature of Firefox 3.5 is the private browsing mode also called by some as porn mode because the browser will not save the visited site in history but the servers visited by the users will have the trace of visits. Privacy can be implemented on the users computer only and should not be assumed that the servers visited will also forget that you were there.
